Hey peeps...not too sure howmany of you remember back in 2003 when i was preparing my car for GTI international (the Scirocco) but that time has come again but for my escort :D

the Scirocco went a bit like this:

http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=21636

http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=44368

http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=46343

http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=49188

http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=57659

all the various progress stages of my Scirocco...from beginning to end :)

now its time for the Escort to recieve the same treatment :D :D :D :D

but some of u may think...WHY?! its mint!....and i do agree:

Image

Image

Image

however, i want it looking different  never happy am i   :bonkers:

with it being a Ford...once the kit came off...i kinda thought..OH NO! RUST!!!

Image

Image

havent got any close up pics...but the passenger side was not too bad...driver side was fairly bad....so i got these

Image

those are being put on while we speak as well as the sills being patched up a little towards the rear arches....all in for £180 :D :aviator: :Q cant beat that quote!

the car has been sent off to the welders in this state

Image

Image

cant wait till its back so i can crack on with the body mods :D :D :D

will keep u all updated

plans are

smoothed bumpers
one off front bumper (not seen one like it ;)) but its just a modified 90spec one lol
different colour ;)
DTM Cup mirrors
new lights all round
new front wings
rear 1/4s are already pop outs
new front screen
smoothed bonnet
escort rs turbo metal badge on back
new transit ford badge
maybe a slight bad boy bonnet
etc etc

mainly things that were like on my Scirocco...keep it looking as standard as possible (minus the colour) yet have enough mods done for the enthusiast to notice ;)

Drop the badboy, leave it standard, put the original wheels back on, you get noticed nowadays for not turning your car into a chive's dream :)

first time its been called that and i aint one to follow the sheep! i make my own route! look at my Scirocco to understand!

original wheels are a no go as the big disk brakes require 16s min and i dont fancy cossie brakes or rst brakes with over 300hp under the bonnet :bonkers:

Looks top mate

Why would someone want to put standard wheels on their car??? Obviously looks better than standard.

cheers for the comments again Image

sleeky...cant wait either  got next week off to work on the car solid hopefully get alot done in that time...need to speak to sprayers as well to see when they can book it in for the paint

flip...standard wheels help with the purist look....i DO like the way standard turbos look...however, walk around ANY RS/Ford show and see howmany cars look alike...with the only thing seperating them is the inetercooler and the wheels  the majority of them look similar...as much as i love this, just like with my Scirocco, i want people to actually stop and think...thats out of the ordinary..nicely done and VERY subtle...i only want the true RS heads to realise what been FULLY done to the car...for example the rear pop outs...everyone misses them but when pointed out they are speechless  and another thing which seperate my car from the rest are the rims :Q i knew of only one other RST with the same rims Image

hey there peeps, just a quick update...began work on the rear bumper today...everything was going ok...then i ran out of filler   sods law aint it!

but this is how the day went:

Picked up the bumper from the garage and gave it a quick was with fairy liquid....fookin amazing howmuch that stuff foams  had 1/4 of the bucket with water a bit of fairy liquid and the rest was foam

Image

then wiped the water off with a cloth and let it dry for a bit...its the last time the bumper looks like this

Image

after a bit of aggro and convincing with a screwdriver i finally got the black strip off...then had missions getting the glue/double sided tape that was left on the bumper

Image

once the sticky stuff had gone, i attacked the bumper where it was to be filled with 80grit paper and roughened it all up

Image

started applying the filler and then ran out half way across the bumper LOL...TYPICAL!

Image

also cleaned the inside a little...you think i should paint this or am i being too fussy now??  :bonkers:

Image

back at it nice and early tomo :D want to get all the sanding and re-apply another layer of filler and get it ready for tomo...and HOPEFULLY the car should be back monday or tuesday :D

When you fill the swage lines in your bumper is a good idea to drill a chain of holes in the recces this will give the filler a good key and its less likely to crack.

thanx for that tip paradox...ill give that a shot for the remaining bits of the bumper or the front lol...cracking is the main reason y im using bumper filler as its less likely to crack when the bumper goes back onto the car

max - yes mate its bumper filler :D still not too sure about colour though :-?

Colour changes are gay unless you take everything out IMO. What colour were you thinking of?

Is the bumper filler flexible then? Can you rub it down :-?

Its bumper filler, nice and brown  good stuff tho (i hope)
As for spraying the rear of the bumper......i would, a nice black....for example

Oh and max, yes you can sand it down just fine, just make sure you leave it to dry thouroughly. you can see how flexable it is when you try and get the remains off the the plastic speader  bassboy will understand

max...like sphinx said yes its flexible and sandable so it should be kool...thats the reason im using it as i know bodyfiller and fibreglass dont flex as much and hence cracks

colour wise im gonna stick with red but maybe a different shade...unsure what shade though...i think Rosso Red is nice but its a bit dull...every after market car i have seen it sprayed on dont shine as well as what mine did :(

hi max, i used 4 for one bumper so far...have a little left over but have another 2 tubes just incase because the filler will sink down yet while drying...so once its fully dried, ill sand it down and then reapply a few more layers filling any air bubbles or holes that need filling...

once its fully smoothed, ill prime it and then sand again then paint later on
