95 Fiesta Classic | £400 ono

Postby Curtis on Thu Sep 22, 2011 8:37 pm

Hey guys, some of you know the car, many of you don't. Perry the Fiesta has been raising money for Cancer Research UK, to the tune of £170. Unfortunately, he failed his MoT and Retest on emissions. I'm advised that a new oxygen sensor may be the saviour, but I can't afford £70 for something I can't guarantee.

Image
Passenger side door is damaged by the lock, door still locks and unlocks from the inside

Image
Both lights have been tinted all red, with indicators legally flashing amber

Image
There is minor rusting on the front and rear valences and along the sills, however the major problem areas such as the fuel cap and door shuts are completely clean

Image
Both sides of the car have been painted in a matte black outdoor metal paint, and will not come of without paint stripper

Aside from the obvious cosmetic changes, the car is completely standard, with all original parts fitted. The engine has been swapped for a 46k mile block, as opposed to the 56k on the clock.

I will stress that although the car is a runner, it does not have a valid MoT on emissions alone. It passed on all other aspects of the test with no advisory's.

Its a 1.1 Classic Quartz (mk3.5), so either fix it up and use it for a new driver, it cost me £1500 to insure on my own policy at 18 years old, or you can use it to re-shell an XR2i or RS Turbo project, your call :)

For now I'll ask for £400, but something is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. If no-one shows interest in the first week or so, i'm likely to break it, with all parts available, as well as some spares

You need a lambda sensor, have a look on eBay. Should be able to pick one up for £20 and if it doesnt solve it then its not the biggest amount to be down

Could also be the catalytic converter seeing as it is emissions

if you put a 5" pipe on it, it will pass as with a larger diameter pipe more gas will go around the test probe instead of into it. Bit of cheeky way around it. My 310bhp S14a with a 3" straight through apparently had less emissions than my standard exhaust Si fiesta with a standard exhaust :)

I've got my eyes on a new motor now, and seeing as there is no interest, i'm open to start breaking, if anyone wants parts, just ask

All that will do is send the lambda reading sky high, and another fail
