CRASHED MY CAR!! Pics up now, PG2 + PG4 (WHEEL OFF!)..
As some of you know i had an accident in my car on the way to work friday morning.
I spun it on some ice, went sideways into a tree hitting the drivers side wing. No other cars were involved, apart from the 206 that smashed into the side of a big volvo half an hour after me
Im 99% sure its a write off, the wing is badly pushed in, scuttle pannel corner is bent, the front screen has popped out slightly driver side as well.
The passenger door doesnt quite shut right and the gap round the door is a bit odd. Lastly i think theres a slight kink in the drivers suspension turret.
Not too worried about the car atm but need to sort insurance
Basically its 'insured for' £1000. I didnt want to claim at all but my dad wants to try and get some money back.
Obviously i want to keep the car as i want to totally strip it.
I am unsure of when you claim at what point you dont own the car etc, apparantly some cars you cant buy back if they are in a certain category, also if you dont buy the car back what you are allowed to remove from it.
Going out now but if i think of anything else i will add it.
Expect this has come to a shock to most of you as it has to me but at least no other cars were involved and i wasnt hurt! Will explain about the crash etc more soon and post pics but need to sort the insurance out first.
Thanks
P.S. car is insured with CIS. My mate was going to buy back his renault 19 when he crashed it and get it fixed himself but they crushed it 'by mistake'

unlucky dude...
glad no 1 is hurt... what tyres where u running on ure car?
i nearly hit a fox around a bend comming off the m25, i served to avoid a fox, the car wanted to oversteer off to the otherside but i think my tyres and my suspenshion just griped the road well...
i manged to catch the oversteer and got it stable and i smelled loads of rubber afterwards...
get the parts and get it fixed.. forget about insurance if your
going to keep it for another couple of years..
if not break it ..

Dont forget about your excess, the figure you get paid will be the value of the car minus this figure. If its only insured for 1K then the figure you get will be less. Most probably not worth claiming so long as no other property ie peoples fences were damaged.
As for the damage post some pics up, you'd be surprised what could be repaired! Do some pics of door and panel gaps plus damage of the turret.

Grant was explaining to me about his 500 quid and under rule for cars, buy 'em cheap enough and you can always punt them on for the same or more when you want rid.

I think my excess on the fiesta was £500, so if I had claimed £1000 and lost my no claims I'd hardly have received anything! Hence why I wanted rid...
Yeah get some pics up, I'm sure there's a few handymen on here with purposeful advise

Nah not at all, it was my first car, it'll always remain in my heart. I'd even think about an FRST in the future.
I just got annoyed when the insurance was sooooo high yet was never going to offer me anything. Exactly like max's situation now, the only reason why he has insurance is because it's LAW. It's not going to offer him a benefit in any sort of claim.
To add to my annoyance is the fact it was ice and a few other cars crashed. Would it be wrong of me to think that his tax's weren't spent on gritting the road that evening?

pretty much the same thing i do, less than a grand and you will only ever lose a bit, if you use the car for a year and get rid its cheap motoring.

You gotta admit, you did like the FRS tho , 'twas shame about the traffic. You should try it again when you can really stretch its legs especially once I get the actuator sorted.

You need to point out that you may well be worse off by claiming. You will lose any NCB you have earned, plus you will need to declare it for the next three years if you take out a policy. The cost in extra insurance will far outweigh any claim for a car insured for 1K.

I am talking about daily drivers mate. I am pretty convinced I want a FRS now.

you on your own insurance? if so, dont claim.
just break the car and scrap it or sell the car as spairs / repair for like £500 or something. some1 in the know could fix it and sell it on.
or even get quotes to repair it, it might be cheap, you never know
