just realised how long i havent updated this!
well basically because i have been too busy doing other cars and also that i have been building the blacktop turbo over doing more on the car.
got a few more updates, well i have now got 4pot Hispec calieprs, bells and rotors for the car wich will be an other upgrade ove the last set (st170) even tho they were brilliant!
also have finally got round to painting and test fitting the roll cage.
well square peg and round hole springs to mind at the moment as its the OMP motorsport cage it is not designed to fit with the rear seats and wont go past them, however i think i may be able to make it fit with a small bit of cutting of the metal seat backs.
here are a couple of pics.
also a couple of weeks ago i decided that i didnt want the gear stick and mech on show and defo wanted it under the std mk3 centre console so hatched a plan of how to fit it in, so went back to drawing board and measured the mk3 linkiage (how far it sticks into the exhaust tunnel and then measured the focus cable mech and realised i could make a recessed box for it to bolt into under the floor pan and still have the same room for the exhaust so have sety about cutting the plate i welded in off again (made even more sense when i saw jimmy had had the same idea with his!)
will get some pics of this once its finished!

well after a lot of ball ache and swearing the roll cage is finally fitted with the rear seats in situe!
the rear seats will never be able to be folded flat but hey ho thats no worries as im never going to need to anyways.
So here are a couple more pics. (the rear 1/4 trims are also refitted but it was dark by time i finished so couldnt get a complete finished pic )
also managed to pop down to the scrap yard to grab a focus 2ltr black top mtx drive shaft mount to hold it to the rear of the block so that the box and engine can be bolted together ready to have the mountings made.
Shame i havent been able to do more but have been fitting a kitchen all week and will be tiling all next week after work so wont be able to do any more till next weekend now

even though its going to be a good weather and track car i can always strip it to go on track but if its used on the road i want it to look as complete as poss rather than a track female provider of 'horizontal refreshment'...... plus i dont want to show the fact its got the battery in the boot etc...

have been thinking about doing that for ages mate...
even more so after i got the blace pro race wheels as it would finish the car off bit better. noly thing tho is it then may unblaace the rear as that is red to the bottom of bumper and the front and rear is same height....

i dont think it would matter tbh mate, had the top bit of the back bumper still been black it would of maybe fitted in a bit better but tbh i dont think over all the back being completey red matters, after all that splitted part is "ment" to be seperate, ok not on the fez but it is on the escort cosworth, so i say paint the spiltter black mate

quick update.
not had any chance over the last couple of weeks to do anything on the fiesta.
so got off my arse yesterday morn and did a couple of quick jobs so atleast one or 2 things could be ticked of the list of things to do....
First up was drill the 12mm holes into my new focus sump so that the -8 bosses can be welded to it so that i can have an oil return from turbo and breather going direct into the crank case but away from the crank so that it dosnt cause extra drag.
here we go, 2 holes drilled...
gave it another clean in the parts washer so that all the swarf was gone after a quick filing of the holes to make sure the flow would be nice and smooth along them.
Also then painted and fitted the removable diag for the OMP cage.
Then set about runnig 2 -3 braided hoses through the pass side of the car for the rear brakes.
This proved to be a little more dificult than i first thought due to the routing and where it could come out around the mk5 airbox/meater matrix setup for the mk5 dash conversion.
eventually i settled for just on the andgled part of the bulkhead directly below the servo mounting points.
engine bay looks like this...
come inside the car here
then runs down bulkhead and through the floor pan reinfocing brace where the seat front mounts bolt to and then exits car on the upright bit just below the front of the lower part of the rear bench like so.....
all i need to do now is run 2 -6 fuel lines through as well then thats most of the interior work done apart from mounting recessed gear linkage and fitting cable linkage and modified peddle box before fitting the interior again

well as mentioned before i have got a pair of hi-spec billet alloy 4 pots along with bells and rotor's for the fronts.
As they were on a fiesta i broke for bit for this and hence second hand and filthy i decided it would be wise to strip them down and refurb them with new seals etc.
The last owner must have tightened one of the bleed nipples up with a bloody scafold pole on a breaker bar, siezed solid was an understatement and was already rounded from being done up so yep it snapped! so have got to get that out before i can treat it to the parts washer to get all the grime off it...
anyways have cleaned one up and doen a before and after shot so you can see how bad they were!
am in 2 minds to keep them gold as the anodise isnt the best condition on the fronts of the calipers and the bells need doing again but not sure to do them gold or black.... they will be fitted for now anyways after they are rebuilt then can get the coated at a later date!

along with doing a fair bit to the engine today i have also managed to do a few more of the smaller bits that needs doing to the shell ready for the mounts to be made etc.
First of all i finished running the aeroquip braided lines through the car, i now have 2 -3 and 2 -6 lines although one of the -6 may be being changed for a -8 line.
Have also managed to rebuild the peddle box with the slave cylinder for the clutch and fitted that
Have also fully stripped down both of the 4 pot hi-spec calipers and ordered a new bled nipple after getting the snapped one out and also 2 refurb kits to make sure that they are in the best poss working condition before they are fitted!
All in all a quite productive day!

Well done mate That part in the bulkhead where the MK4/5 hydraulic clutch inlet/outlet go - did you cut that whole piece out of a later Fez and weld it to your MK3 bulkhead? Looks good - I just cut holes in my existing bulkhead and tried to make them as tidy as possible!

yeah cut a bit out of a mk5 and welded it in, isnt the best looking thing ever but it lined up pretty well

yeah even though the seam sealer on the plate hasnt gone on that neat the late is far neater than me hacking the bulkhead to get the bis through as no matter how carefully i did it it wouldnt of looked as neat as that!

First of all i refurbed the hi spec 4 pots with all new seals and also 4 bleed nipples as it looked stupid with one new one and 3 old ones! after being cleaned and refurbed they have come up really well, not like new but 1000 times better than they were!
also made sure the banjo fittings i had fitted the calipers, which they do but have to be fitted at a slight angle which is no biggy.
Then set about fitting them and the rear calipers so that i can then set about doing the braided lines from the calipers to the servo and the rear calieprs to the rear lines inside the car.
defo staying with the hi-specs in gold as it would look stupid against black wheels being black and also would make the rears look out of place also. So just gotta get them re anodised at some point in the future.

Looks good matey. When you put the seam sealer on the bulkhead, did you paint it first? if you did thats why its cracked like that.

well bit of an update again, not touched the actual car got best part of 2 months as i have been trying to get all of the engine built up ready to drop in, was hoping to get the engne finished today but the new crank main bearings havent turned up yet, they were only posted from america yesterday after paying for them last sat.... not overly impressed.
so set about making a cradle arrangement for the focus RS gear linkage that will be welded into the exhaust tunnel as if it was mounted on the tunnel the console would not fit back over it tidy.
so got the welder out and a bit of ange steel and bit of flat bar i had kicking around and made this....
quick test fit of selector, all fits well.
so added the sides and the lips to weld it and hold it all into the car.

Console clears the linkage perfectly, and the bit that is sticking out will be covered by the gear gaitor so am happy. Just need to get a bit of sheet steel and plate it all up and then can fit it to the car and paint it

another bit of an update.
i managed to get some sheet steel to pate the gear linkage cradle i made, when i say some i had to buy 2mtr x 1mtr of 1mm thick steel sheet....
i have used a total of 300mm x 350mm so far plating the linkage cradel so looks like i will need to find lots of things to make to use it seeing as i had to pay £10.50 for the sheet.
anyways the cradle is 99% finished, it just needs 4 bolts fitting as studs for the linkage to bolt down to than then i can look at plating the front section of the cradle up and welding it into the car.
here is how it looks at mo.

next job is to remove the old engine mount bracket in the engine bay and plate up the hole in the chassis leg where i cut to clear the gearbox about 12months ago.

Jay - its shallower than the normal fiesta linkage is where it sticks down under the car. so exhaust shouldnt need anything doing to it, although i am prob going for a 3" bore so may need some slight work or hanging slightly lower will have to wait and see.

have managed an hr or so getting some of the interior refitted again as it was getting in the way and now 99% of the work on the inside is done there is no reason why the drivers side cant be built back up.
so got the rear seats in properly, the carpet in and the drivers seat and steering wheel bolted in along with drivers side harness, wheel will have to come off again when the dash goes in after looking at doing something to where the mk5 pollen filter mounts to make it neater but it makes car easier to move around in and out of the garage.
also test fitted the console after the carpet to see the linkage is right and it looks almost a factory fit, just need to find a focus RS or focus leather and chrome gearknob for sensible money now. Really starting to look like a fiesta again and is getting closer to being finished every day... cant wait for it to be done now!

well managed to do a bit more on the fiesta this morning, not a huge update as per norm at mo but with each small update the car gets closer!
not long after deciding to do the conversion when i was doing the dummy fit (about 2 years ago :'( ) i realsied that the pass side chassis leg needed a bit cutting out to clear the gearbox, it has sat cut like this for best part of the 2 years so today decided that instead of paying someone to do it while the mounts were wleded in i would get and do it myself as i had sheet steel spare.
so quick tidy of the hold in the leg and quick bit of primer to stop any more rust on the car
after measuring knocked up this out of the sheet steel
then quick test fit to see where needs trimming to get the shape right round the leg as its not square along there.
then turn on the welder and quick grind to make it look bit better and there is one plated leg.
looks million times better than the hole and cost bugger all compaired to what i would of paid to someone else.

Also this eve i have rebuilt my stage 2 ERST T3 into a cosworth 4x4 AR.48 exhaust housing. This means that i can use a 3 bolt flange down pipe with this turbo.
The turbo is only going to be temp for the short term as i dont think it will be that well suited to the ZT in terms of power and the scope of the turbo compaired to the engine however it will do for runnnig the engine in and getting it all built up. Plus the turbo has only done about 1500 miles so is basically new.
