Could just be a case of he hasn't put them on yet? Such a thing as making sure everything runs fine before putting all the fancy covers back on!
Don't see how you'd risk the engine with having it removed either, I've been running the Astra without one for nearly a year with no problems

if any stones or anything flick up off the road and get lodged in the teeth of the cam pullys/belt, can send the timing off and bend valves etc. Seen it happen before. Think it was on here actually that someones aux belt snapped and ended up getting lodged in the timing belt and bent all their valves

yup anything thicker than a piece of paper gets into any fo the pullies or tentioners and it can put the timing out enough to make a valve or piston hit eachother!
never worth the risk imo, thats why ppl buy see through or alter theyre own

you can clearly see its been taken off, or not put back on for that matter

I never said that they were or weren't fitted.. Just that it doesn't say they've been removed and they're not going back on.
