Re: My mrk3 ZS new pics on P2!!!!!!!!!
i admire the amount of work that has gone into this fiesta. well done chap.
2 things i personally would rip straight off are those bmw wanabe headlights and the m3 mirrors. They are just tacky and make the car seam cheap.
If it had a standard bonnet the front would ok i guess with that bumper. As i see you have taken alot of time fitting it properly.
Please tell me you didnt bad boy a genuine rs bonnet ?

Re: My mrk3 ZS new pics on P2!!!!!!!!!
It would look a lot better if the headlights and grille lined up with the bumper to be honest, too gappy on the front, maybe fiberglass would help, also, why is the badge partially obscured by the bonnet?
Looks nice though mate, but sort those little bits out and you're on to a winner.
Nick
EDIT:
By the way, lots of people have managed the MK5 dash conversion whilst wiring in the new heater controls, to be honest keeping the original MK3 controls looks like a totally gash bodge job... Sorry!

I dont really like the bonnet or the bumper, whats your numberplate? 03 at the end?
Why you keeping the mk3 heater controls? They look a bit odd! You going to fit them a bit better?

Re: My mrk3 ZS new pics on P2!!!!!!!!!
firstly its just a personalised plate just happened to say 03 so i left it on the pics lol believable erm no
secondly i hate the mirrors just waiting to rub down some standard mrk 3 mirrors to colour code themwhich i have at home
also the bonnet has a crack in the bad boy and i bought it like that cos i wanted an rs turbo bonnet dunno if its genuine
thirdly the badge isnt obscured but from that angle it does look it
ok not gonna keep numbering
heater matrix is a plan i have the mrk 5 one in the garage and tubes pollen filter etc
however the biggest problem is i am rubbish with haynes and will not be able to wire it up with out having a wire colour to wire colour from someone if anyone can it would be much appreciated
and when i took the dash out wasnt sure how to disconnect the radiator ??
dont really like the cracks but dont really like the standard head lights
mite get light protectors and remove the bad boy although i do have a set of mrk5 detangoed headlights that i might attempt as my next prodject as it will give me better light etc might look odd though would be easier if the mrk 5 bonnet fitted on any ideas?
there are the plans for the future exept maybe smoothing in the skirts and when its finished a complete respray
oh and lastly i am in the progress of making a more accurate black strip for the front so there are no gaps although if i did fit the mrk5 headlights there would not be any and i would have the zs grille in the middle
anyway cheers for your thoughts

If you read the haynes it does actually tell you wire colours on the wiring diagrams in the keys.
Get the heater matrix sorted cause it doesn't look very good with the mk3 heater controls still. There's no difference in light output from mk3 headlights and mk5 headlights, apart from the fact that you've got a badboyed bonnet which obscures the beams.
I can't help but think after all this time and effort making your car look like a customised ZS you could have bought a ZS But fair play mate, keep up the good work, apart from the slightly dodgy front end you've done some killer work! I like the ideas for the front end but needs a rethink with regards to matching things up though. but yeah, nice car!
EDIT: Btw fitting mk5 lights is harder than you make out, the light mountings need to be changed as do the bonnet and wings.

Re: My mrk3 ZS new pics on P2!!!!!!!!!
You should of bought a mk5 like dontpannic ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^ and save all the hassle of converting to mk5 parts
Wings, bonnet, headlights.
Next you want the matching doors... where does it end ?

it wouldnt just be the wings and the headlights, it would literally be a whole front end, front panel, both wings, bonnet the bumper then would not fit so another bumper, then as you say the mk3 doors wouldnt line up with the mk5 wings as the press line would more than likely be different , then maybe the shell as well if the door shape is slightly different!
would just be alot easier to have got a mk5 car or shell and started from there, in a way i wish i had changed mine to a mk5 and fitted my engine or just gone the zetec turbo route but i am happy having a mk3 shell the mk5 dash, door cards and boot as those modernize the mk3 in the way i like, i dont think the front does as it doesnt flow with the rest of the car as well as the back end does (and even some people think its still a miss match with the back end!)

Re: My mrk3 ZS new pics on P2!!!!!!!!!
as the last comment says i dont wanna just buy one cos ive learnt so much doing it this way and it s the fun of seeing what is actually possible and makes a few heads turn when i over take and its a differint car from behind lol (or they overtake probobly more still 1.3 at the end of the day) also insurance on it is dirt cheap
i will end up just buying a new car this is my first though and i enjoy spending time on it as its kinda a hobby
i also have nt spend barely any money on it the only costly bits were the bumpers seats and steering wheel
ok i will get planning on the heater matrix but will wait for my next mot first incase i 'conquering device' it up
secondly maybe de-badboying is the way to go then although
right now there is a written of zetec s that i can takes bit from free im thinking of taking the bonnet grill and wings
also if i take it that far i could fit mrk 5 4 doors then just worry bout the slam panel
anyway this is massive stuff so ill do what i usually do and think through it for a while befrore i start going to far and messing it up.
well cheers for the comments anyway i do listen donno what to do yet but first im gonna finish the arches and wire up the fog and heat buttons in the dash then go from there
cheers all

its good you got it how ya want it mate, being different is what its about.
your welcome with the wirng, as i said though it should work fine if you follow the pin numbers not the wire colours due to them being different on your plug.
let me know how ya get one mate

Re: My mrk3 ZS new pics on P2!!!!!!!!!
in all honesty mate i think u dun a top notch job, i allways wondered wot the ZS bumper wud look like, and u managed to pull it off. thos lights tho, i hav seen a few where the angel eyes hav come unstuck within the light and some where the light has stopped working altogether.
quick question, how hard was it to fit the mk4 tailgate and rear lights [ERRR] i been wantin to fit them to my RS for ages but havent had the money to invest in doing it

Re: My mrk3 ZS new pics on P2!!!!!!!!!
Personally i think the Rear ZS bumper look absolutly spot on, on a mk3... But the Front just looks wrong and shouldnt even be thought about.
If i werre you i would put your standard 2i front bumper on, would look sooooooo much better and you would get away with the Bad Boy bonnet looking OKish.
You probably wouldve had a better base on 3 door mk3, but i guess if you need a 4 door then fair play.
Hats off to the work gone in and if you like it, thats all that matters.
We can only lend constructive critism or advice.
The Mk5 dahs is cool, (Why did you have to keep the mk3 heater controls?????)
I wouldnt mind putting the mk4/5 dials on my mk3.5 tbh.
