my 2.0 si...reversed into :(
ive done some more work on the mk2 2day (the joys of having a week off work!)
fitted the last rear damper, put on some side sirips to cover the holes left by the side panels i took off last week
i also undesealed the rear and painted up the arches and sills with black hammerite ready for the xr2 skirts anmd arches so the car doesn't fall to pieces with rust
here some more pics of todays 05/02/2007 progress
by the way my si's filthy
i still haven't got round to polishing it yet but i will do soon

yeh i want zetec turbo power! i can't wait i wanna make the mk2 reasonable before its out on the roads for the nxt 2 years as my runabout as i want to still drive a car that looks cool!
ive only spent £80 on the mk2 so far ive got all the xr2 kit and dashboard and seats etc in that total i only bought the mk2 for £50 and it has MOT! so in all in all £130!
well last nite the project plan has kind of started ive ordered some area six rose jointed arms from ian howell adjustable for camber of which i can have set up to road or track use if i want and ive bought 2 new tyres as well
the project turbo si is going to take a while due to money but ive allowed myself plenty to time to get it done so there will be no mistakes!

Spot on fella!
Thought you would have spent more on the XR2 looking at its progress lol! Was a bargain at £50 IMO!
But get building that Zetec Turbo lol!
Keep the updates coming fella, will be watching this with interest from now on...

XRMike :id be tempted to put the old si lump in the mk2
hmm that would be awesome but my mates having the 1.6 si lump and its going in this:
its my mates self built kit car , he has a 1.3 crossflow engine which he had in and running back in the summer and has since then stripped it down again for a few modifications, and as he's helping me with my 2.1 turbo conversion for the fiesta si, he is having the si lump to put in the kit car...... which weighs nothing it will be quick and rwd!!
it will be in the kit car probably before my cars even finished

it is a possablilty mate as it will slot pretty much straight in if the 1.1 engine goes bang it will go in, but ive gotta save money on petrol cost for the si turbo conversion, so twin carbs probs not, but would b cool tho!

yeh its taken my mate a while to build it up at the moment as he owns a honda civic coupe (had 3 engine since he got it last year), triumph spitfire convertible, both to sort out as well as the kit car he has built, which has escort mk2 running gear etc

rite i have a update here:
i have sum pics of the rolling road day event i went to with fiesta-si.com
my car put out an impressive 93.9 bhp 136.6 nm of torque for a standard 1.6 zetec engine just with a k&n and magnex back box i was really pleased
heres a graph i dono why i took it sideways
(its a bit creased btw)
AND AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WILL BEAT THE WAR AGAINST WISHBONES!!!!!!!!!
yes i have my camber adjustable AREA SIX arms (recomended by heeman)
ok they were £290 but do i care....... nope! as ive had enough with the standard ones...... even tho the last set which where taken off today where still in suprisingly good condition after 4 months which is my all time record for the life expectancy for a wishbones on my car
heres sum pics
my mate set them up to standard speck for now until satruday when i get them set up the camber propely to suit it being lowered 60mm
the test drive was awesome no understeer, pure grip i'm really pleased with them!

Good news about the RR session, especially as my mods are the same, (albeit a 3" back box) Do you keep it well serviced oil change filters etc?? I've just done all but HT leads on mine and find it runs pretty sweet
You must be pleased with the new arms, fingers crossed
edit - Been looking at the RR readout and it's quite interesting, You can SEE the flat spot at 4000rpm. Also a loss of about 30hp in transmission, i'd hate to think what my 1.1 had at it's wheels!

Agreed with the above comment, looks really nice and smooth/clean
Glad the lower arms are already having an impact! It occurred to me that Ian perhaps didn't supply the bolts with mine. I bought mine from Streetdragster before he fitted them to his car, and they came with the bolts, so maybe he'd already bought them from Ford and included them in the sale
That's a healthy power figure too, good update!

update i got the car set up on saturday at super tyres maldon essex
http://www.super-tyres.co.uk
01621 840100
what a very impressive place i got to watch jeremy clarkson head to head in a nice leather sofa
any way heres what they found
it was well out as i thought camber wasn't too bad tho got it set up and all good but as you can see their is a rear problem
set up
the rear stub axle may have taken a hit back in 2005 when some of you may know my car ended up in a ditch as it ran out in front of me
apart from that car feels supreb and really loves the corners its great!
so soon after me and my mate went to the scrapy to get another stub axle costing £10
gona to fit this during the week
also we went to jams garage to get the rest of the parts off his old rotten (very) xr2
heres sum pics
hopefully kit will be fitted within the next 2 weeks

update well were should i start.............
well last week i got sum bonnet lifters from autospecialists they looked good and i was really pleased with them, but then the car broke that nite clutch cable snapped again, 2nd time in 3 months so has to be the clutch racket and i thought my si just keeps on breaking somthing new everyweek (days somtimes) as the week before it had a leaking radiator and the week before that was the water pump so ive decided to get on with the rebuild and replace the things that i know it needs so ive taken the si of the road...could be up 2 a year and a half!
neways heres the pics with my car with the bonnet lifters on
so i then changed my insurance over from the si to the mk2
and also my mate fitted the bodykit on it which makes it look a how lot better!
heres some pics
painted both the drums and calipers on it as well in silver
i'm really pleased with it the cars its a rite laugh to drive very different to the si and is quicker than i thought it would be!
also should be getting some clear front and side indiacators nxt week!
what u think?
and 2 days bad news on the mk2....................................
i had it mot'd and it failed....big time on the following
1.
nearside front suspension arm has excessive play in ball joint
2.
offside front suspension arm has excessive play in ball joint
3.
nearside front, front wheel bearing has excessive play (dangerous)
4.
offside rear, rear wheel bearing feels rough when rotated
5.
nearside front (inner wing) suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded
6.
nearside rear (outer sill, floor pan and rear wheel arch) suspesnion component mounting prescibed area is excessively corroded (dangerous)
my dad said i should scrap it and get £25 for it i thought.... err no i can't do that
i went to the local welders soon after the test they quoted me £100- 120 for the welding
and i recon the other parts should come to around £60-70 so ive decided its worth keeping it as ive just taxed it and had 4 new tyres fitted 2day so it would have been a complete waste of money if i had decided to scrap it
as its dangerous to drive i can't really drive the car very far until its fixed which is annoying, i did think of even putting the si back on the road but it will just delay the project in store for it

once again ive changed my mind (i keep on doin this, sorry) on what i'm doing with the si this time its 2.0 n/a not turbo but
turbo-ing it will happen one day
ive been buying parts slowly for what i still need for the si
brand new escort rs cosworth cailpers
brand new radiator
new ford clutch racket, as mine is knarckered
new clutch cable
new DTM mirror base plates
The plan is to have the base plates smoothed togther with the mirrors like this:
i'm going to have the front line smoothed out and have a half badboy done on it
heres my si with it on
i also got a rear screen as my one has a tiny crack in it
and 2day i took some pics of my runaround mk2 xr2 replica with new badges on and cd player fitted
i went for the newer style ford badge which is a bit smaller
and a rear pic with newer style FIESTA badge on
i also put the fiesta in the park plaque on it under the bonnet
within the next few weeks i want to get hold of a 2.0 zetec engine for the si and a series 2 escort rs turbo gearbox with LSD, and also to remove the 1.6 lump from the si
and pic of cd player and chrome ford badge on the steering wheel

well since i last posted on this site, the mk2 has been written off in a 5 car pile up .... but has been repaired believe it or not heres pics
but first pics of my runabout at fitp 2007
then new badges which i got at fitp from the autospecialists stand
then 10days later................bang!! 5 car pile up on the a14!
i was on my way to collect my 2.0 engine for my si i got half way and ended up in a 5 car pile up i was at the back, even tho it wasn't completey my fault, i reacon it was the domino effect one car break then another then another until a complete stop
my car was bad the other cars were drivable i had to get a tow truck £150!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for 50 miles i as lucky my house was only 49.6 miles away or it would have been another £50!
heres sum pics
the car i hit up the back
i got a bit of a stiff neck but i'm ok every1 else was fine so thats the main thing
but me being me i couldn't have it scraped!
so i got all the parts required to get it fixed and back on the road
img]http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b398/fiestasiphil/DSC00356.jpg[/img]
believe it or not the cross member is straight!
oh and a plie of filler i found in the front wing
we started work on it this moring
this morning
first wing cut off and away!!
with the wing off i painted up the inner chassis leg up with black hammerite to keep any rust away!
the very bent slam panel
all panels in place to be welded up
the dead panels
as i'm a bit skint this month we only painted the slam panel and both wings for now bonnet will be done in a few weeks
all bolted and welded up..and painted
it drives just as well as it did before!
and i have an update on the si's progress
ive got the 2.0 engine
the ecu!
rs1800 inlet manifold
and a superchip!
just a few pics of both my cars togther on the drive
next up for the si is erst gearbox, rear axle, and b&m quickshift!

good on ya, mk2's and xr2's r so much fun! 2.0? blimey that will fly!!
my first car was a B reg xr2, and second car a E reg xr2, then i got rs, but yeah they are so much fun, ive had loads of xr2s, but apart from the first 2 above the rest were breakers really.

update 17/08/07
ive spending sum more cash sourcing the harder to find items for my si and do what i can before the engine comes out should be within or around 2 weeks time
the 2.0 mondeo engine on
i'm going to have every gasket changed for peace of mind
complete head gasket set and sump gasket, ive still got 2 get timing belt kit and water pump hopfully will be getting them next
cvh oil filter, 5w 30 oil (got cheap at halfords lol) , anti freeze, new battery, gearbox oil (prob will need a few more)
poly bushed rear axle as the one on my si is very slightly bent (has been since i crashed it)
i then rubbed it all down to bare metal and have painted it black, i'm also going to do the twin anti roll bar job and paint them silver on it as well as i may as well as ive got 2 rear anti roll bars!
i also took the spare wheel cradle off the car and rubbed it down to bare metal and painted it black
also i have bought a escort rs turbo series 2 LSD gearbox for it as well, which i de greased yesterday and blimey did it come up well!
i'm also saving for some fk coilovers with a 75 mm drop!!! i can't wait!
and at ford fair i bought some rst chrome under bonnet vent plates and bonnet stay top
and have just ordered chrome slam panel blanking plates and escort cosworth discs and bought brand new drums, the 1.6 lump is comng out very shortly
projects back on now!
