EDIT: New MK3.5 Body shell acquired - Rebuild thread.

A mate and I have managed to get hold of a new, unused shell to reshell his car. His is a now 2.0l'd, 1600 Si on an N plate, so a mk3.5. The shell we've got is a mk3. What kind of difficulties will we experience swapping everything over?

My first thoughts were to the front suspension, however seeing as the whole mk3.5 setup is coming across from the old car there shouldn't be any issues there, should there?

Is there anything else I should be expecting? Are the door hinges the same fitment? As you may have guessed I've not had a huge amount to do with the mk3, any help appreciated.

Just swap everything. You may need a Mk3 boot strut as some only had 1 and you'll need the fuel filler stuff from a Mk3. They should be the only things I think.

If it's a new shell it's unlikely to have a boot let alone boot struts

Yep will need the MK3 filler neck unless you replace that rear quarter panel

Will need to drill two bigass holes in the top chassis rail and holes in chassis leg/inner wing for the front zetec engine mount and hole will need drilling larger or poss in a different place for rear engine mount

Thought of all those except the rear engine mount. Why will the hole require changing?

The shell arrived today! It's pretty much immaculate for a shell that's been on a shelf for 13 years and bonus of bonuses it's a mk3.5 shell!!! I'll get some pictures up, it even still has a sticker on it saying "property of the ford mord motor company"

We've been messing with it this weekend. Things have been set back by the shell having no door hinges on it which has been a right ring piece to sort out as somebody cut the old old hinges in half to get the doors off the original shell!

The engine bay has been painted in a matt black. Door hinges were repaired yesterday and now the (the two doors on the :P ) driver's side are on and all lined up. The other side should be done tomorrow and then the whole lot should be sprayed in Ash Black this week. I've got some more photos to post up which I shall do later on.

I'm still slacking on the photos as I've not managed to get them off my phone but the shell is all sprayed up. All the doors are on along with the bonnet and boot lid. The interior is coming back together, master cylinder and steering rack are noew back on. Going to put the loom in tonight and hopefully it will be on wheels at the weekend.
