ROAD/TRACK MK3 PROJECT :D
Being only 16 and turning 17 in January ive been wanting a project to have as a first car for a while now and originally was going to get a MK2 Fiesta pop+ but got let down last minute so went back on the hunt for another car.
Eventually found a 5spd 1995 MK3 1.1L Quartz with 53,000 a few weeks later that someone had attempted to do a FRST replica but was a unfinished project that looked like someone had lost interest in and the car needed to be saved,
After contacting the seller at 11am on a sunday morning me and my dad went to collect the car and had it back home by 3pm that afternoon ready to be fully restored and soon to become a road/track car over the next 6 months ready to start driving in January
How the car looked (04/08/13)
After a good look over i noticed the previous owner who fitted the body kit had done a rather botched up job of fitting it and seemed to like body filler abit to much and decided to fill in all the grooves and swage lines in the kit making it some sort of smooth look :/
Enough with all the filler i decided that it was easier to just rip off all the kit and buy a new one so managed to find a full kit with a few spares from a local lad so got that delivered the same night and stored away ready for sanding and priming
with fordfair just a few days aways all the interior was stripped out leaving just the dashboard in and a bucket to sit on to move the car back and fore
got my self a few cheap bits at Fordfair off various people so was rather happy with my findings when returning home with -
parcle shelf £10
full set of clocks with rev counter (like new) £5
Brand new Mamba bucket seats (pair) £100
Chrome strut top cover £2
feeling lucky i had browse on the internet and managed to find -
brand new headlights and rear lights (genunine ford) £17 for the lot
Pair of sabelt 4pt harnesses in red £34.50
and also managed to find mysef 16" mondeo gti alloys like new with tyres and full adjustable koni shocks with lowering springs for all round the car for just £120 (suspension & wheels)
Had the car for 5 weeks now and in this time ive managed to achieve quite abit had now got all the car in primer ready to be flatted back and done again but with to many pics to share on here ive created a facebook page with albums showing constant updates and pictures of my progress
https://www.facebook.com/mk3fiestarestore
Album of the 5weeks of owning the car
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 507&type=3
Album from Saturday (31/08/13) where showing the whole car sanded down, taped up and first coat of primer
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 507&type=3
Ill keep posting a few pics of progress on this thread but for those of you who would like to keep looking mainly all of update will be on the facebook page.
The car was going to be painted Renault Meagane Sport Yellow but ive now decided im going to stay close to original and painting it Vauxhall Flame Red but with alot of detailed touches and suprises to make it a little different
Still undecided to what engine to use for road/track use so would love to hear or even see anyones ideas of what you have all done or used
Sorry for all the writing lol but hope you all like the car and as said would love to hear anyones ideas or tips of what you can recommend
Thanks Josh

Re: ROAD/TRACK MK3 PROJECT :D
What colour is it going to be?? Please get rid of the lexus lights though!! if you want a track car it would be worth sorting the handling with coilovers, strut braces, polybushes, arbs's first. Then think if an engine conversion, probably a 1.6 cvh or 2.0 zetec would be best unless you can find a
Cvh turbo that isnt f**cked!!

Go on the flo flex website mate, not too expensive, i think you need the subframes and shocks off an
Xr2i or si to fir arb's on the front, and you
Need either an si or a zetec s rear beam to fit the rear!! Message sam-si on here i think he has some strut braces.

Re: ROAD/TRACK MK3 PROJECT :D
Polybushes for sure and to be honest with my experiences there's no difference between any of the brands...
I have a zetec s rear beam for sale cheap? Saves you fitting a rear arb or anything, also got pretty much a whole mk3 in my garage if you need anything haha
