SHOW RULES - PLEASE READ!
As we all know, there has been a bit of bother about the Fiestaturbo show stands this year which has caused a little bit of tension around the site, to say the least. As such, a few of us who have been on the site for a while have come together and decided to share the responsibility for show organising between us. For FordFair this year, Lou and Ollie will be organising tickets. Thereafter, Vix will continue to organise the tickets, but a few of us will support her by sorting out other things around her. However, in order to prevent any misunderstandings, we've decided to lay down a few ground rules in order to make sure everyone knows where they (and we) stand before the event.
1. No stand plan is to be decided on, and there will be no centrepiece to the stand. Instead, cars will be arranged from the front backwards in order of who arrives first. The first people to arrive will line up at the front, then we'll line cars up backwards from there until we run out of cars. The gazebo will be erected at the back of the stand, so that people have to see the show cars before they can get to the gazebo. This way, no car is given pride of place over another, and those who really want to be on the front row of the stand are able to influence that by arriving earlier.
2. All cars to be displayed on the FT stand must have in their window a sign showing the username of the car's owner. This will allow us to identify whose car it is if we need to know for any reason. It will also allow fellow FTers to link cars to usernames. If you don't display a sign in your car window, you won't be allowed to take part in the stand again.
3. All users displaying cars on the FT stand must supply to Vix (or, in the case of FordFair this year, Lou & Ollie) their name, registration number and a contact mobile number which will allow them to be contacted on the day of the event. The reason for this is to allow us to contact you while you're walking around the show if we need your car to be moved, or for any other reason. TIckets will not be sent out if you have not supplied Vix with these details.
4. Depending on the show, we may ask people to stay on the stand until a certain time so that the stand can be effectively organised. This is to prevent the 'park up, walk off' issue which we have had at previous shows, where we haven't been able to move cars around on stand if we needed to because several of them have been unattended. We know you're keen to see the rest of the show, but if you are asked to stay around until a certain time, please do so, as the last thing you want is to be the one person the rest of us are waiting for to move your car when you get back!
5. At every show, everyone who is on the FT stand will be eligible to vote for an FT 'Car of the Show' award, which will go to the best car on the FT stand at that show. Voting will take place in the gazebo throughout the day. As well as allowing us to recognise the finest cars we have on the site, this will also give everyone an opportunity to come into the gazebo and introduce themselves to whoever's running the voting, as well as the rest of the people who happen to be in the gazebo at that time. What the winner will get will be decide nearer the time. And no, you won't be allowed to vote for your own car!
6. Every member of FT who displays their car on stand is entitled to display whichever car they wish to show, regardless of make or model. Yes, we are Fiestaturbo.com, but one of the great things about the site is the diversity of cars we have here, as well as all the great Fiestas. It would be a great shame not to show that off. So yes, as long as it complies with the show's rules on car types to be displayed, any member's car is welcome. Sorry to all the purists, but whinging about a car that's not to your taste appearing on stand will not be acceptable. Remember, it's everyone's stand - not just yours.
7. At a few shows in the past, Vix has added £1 onto the price of the tickets in order to pay for any equipment we need for the show stand (e.g. banners, gazebo, etc). This is something that will become the case for every show stand we organise, and it will mean that everyone who attends the show contributes towards the ephemera we buy for the show stands. We think this is fair enough; if you don't, Vix has given people the option to remove the £1 from the ticket price in the past. Whether she continues to do so is her choice, but if you have an objection, please raise it with one of us.
Finally, as an addendum, we thought we'd add that while we will do our very best to organise these shows for you, please bear in mind that it is our very best and we do want it to be an enjoyable event for everyone in the club. That doesn't mean it will be perfect, though, so please don't expect it to be. While we will listen to constructive suggestions on the day, and act on them if we see fit, and while we'll be happy to explain our reasons for doing things you might disagree with in a civilised manner, we won't tolerate any unjustified moaning or bitching after the event. And please remember, it's up to you guys to make the show what it is - go out there and meet people, and enjoy yourselves! As Dave has said, it's your club; you will make it what it is, so make it great!
If you have any queries, or any further suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
