[info] Zetec-turbo injectors that fit Zetec fuel rail

[FAQ/Guide'd as it's so useful! - Proj]

OK.
Since I'm plan to build ZT few months ago start search for sidefeed injectors that fit Zetec fuel rail. They can be not direct replacement fot ECC-IV, cause I'll use Megasquirt. And finally found!

Nissan 200SX (S14) injectors fit perfect in Zetec fuel rail! Just need to swap small O-rings, cause Zetec ones is little bit big.

Now some comparison:

Zetec injectors (1 800cc, 105HP):

Flow rate ~ 160-170 cc/min
Impedance - 16 Ohm

Nissan injectors (SR20DET - 2 000 cc, 200HP)

Flow rate - 375 cc/min !!!
Impedance - 10,7 Ohm

So if u plan ZT why don't you take a look at Megasquirt <-Click, also check Asad's Megasquirt topic <-Click. MS is cheap, easy DIY thing.

Now some pics.

But that's not all. If you plan REALLY BIG power 375 cc/min can't be enought. 375 cc/min Nissan injectors are good for 300+ HP. Then... just simply shave the cap of injector!!!

Read more about this mod here:

http://forums.probetalk.com/showthread.php?t=1701147295

Ok, with "shaved" cap now you have ~550 cc/min injectors and can get up to 500HP (!?!).

Have luck!

Looks like a good fit mate, top work.

As you say though, I would be concerned for the longevity of the injector drivers with a 10.7 Ohm impedance, On EEC-IV.

Definately the cheap way to do the ZT inlet. Not the best certainly, but a good way.

Thanks,

Steve

You could use those injectors with megasquirt, which is what he is planning.

You dont even need a flyback board.

GL with the install mate!

This modifying of injectors sounds interesting. Depending on the shape of the underlying cavity the cutting is aimed to open up, it could be either a very simple way of getting better flow rates, or a good way to give yourself four injectors providing varying flow rates!

Cheers mates!

Scort: Injectors are perfect for my install, but not for ECC...

Asad: Thanks!

heeman10: Try this mod with caution!

StreetDragster: Use all info whenever you like! If you want I can supply part number of injectors.. they are JECS

I fitted these injectors in my zetec rail in october last year, I am running OFAC management. They seem to be spot on, They do over fuel a little though. Also they are noisy, Even when new they are noisy, After a while you get used to it

NOTE: The Std ford injector power plugs do NOT fit the S14 injectors, You do have to change the plug.

Omex :The 600 series ECU has two injector outptuts that are used to control 4 injectors semi-sequentially or up to 8 cylinders batch fired. Injectors should be high impedence, but low impedence injectors can be used with ballast resistors.

The 710 series ECU can control up to 12 injectors sequentially with controls for staged injectors. Injector start angle can be mapped and single cylinder trims are possible. Injectors should be high impedence, but low impedence injectors can be used with ballast resistors.

I have one question. would only fitting the Nissan injectors (without any more mechanical/ECU modifications) give some extra power? would it have some disadvantages? thanks
cheers,
Michael

Without any mechanical/ECU modifications your engine will run pig rich and performance will be worst than if you drive your car without engine :D

Engine can burn extra fuel (from larger injectors) only if there is extra air - fuel mixture mut be perfect to get decent or perfect result. If you add just fuel then mixture goes rich and engine can't burn it - result is poor performance or even engine can't start.

Just noticed there is two different types of filters for these injectors, which one is best?

one has the filter near the bottom and the other has it near the top?
