Detailed guide to fitting rs/xr2i skirts/arches...UPDATED
Put my kit on this morning, thought i would share my expirience.
Tools...
- sealant/bonding (i recommend tiger seal or sikaflex) with gun
- drill with drill pieces for metal
- 1 roll of wide masking tape
- roll of tissue
- bucket of warm water
- rivet gun/rivets (i used original ford ones, available from ford for £6.54)
- minimum of 4 G-clamps (plastic ones if possible as they are lighter)
Ok start by laying you kit out on a smooth surface to avoid scratching, then 1 by one hold the each part against your car in place to see if it goes well against the body, the smaller arches are your front ones and obvously the other 2 larger ones are the rear then you got your skirts.
Starting with the front i held the arch in place and masking taped it in place while a drilled a hole in the body at the bottom near the door where your hole is in the arch, then I riveted it in place.
Might be a idea to have some masking tape torn off and ready to apply (stick it somewhere on the car witin reach)
You can still move the arch about (up and down and towards you) enough to squeeze some sikaflex all along the arch including the little humps that run along the inside of the arch.
Once you have got a sufficient amount on there push it againt the body and mask it up tight again the body of the car, you might need to use one or two of your clamps here, if so use em! If you get any of the glue on the car where you dont want it get some warm water and attack it with a cloth straight away as it wont come off if it sets, so could be a idea to keep the bucket of water and a cloth close to hand.
Repeat this for the other side and then the rears (rivet the rears where the jack cover are). Make sure you mask it up well and check to make sure its stuck tight.
Now the skirts... alot easier, slot one end in to the front arch and the other end just sits on tope of the rear arch, line tem up untill you are happy then mask it up to hold it (I found i had a half inch gap between one of my arches and the skirt but still looked fine.
Once your happy and have it masked up, start with drilling your 4 holes for the rivets (holes are already in skirts so it would just be the car) once done go ahead and rivet it in.Repeat this or the other side... rest assured they will not be falling off!
Its up to you how you do under the skirts.. either self tappers or rivets, i have not got round to the underside of mine yet but its not noticed and they dont hang down at all.
Make sure you leave the arches tapped up for 24hrs to allow for the sikaflex to dry.
I will post pics of completed job tomorrow... mine is still drying

Ok removed tape/clamps this morning, this is the result...

Great guide - im doing the same in a few weeks time.
Only thing is, i imagined it would be better if you added the bonding solution straight onto the arches and then offered the arches up to car and secured them, you'd get much more bonding solution on (and therefore a stronger fit) than your method which seems just to add the solution between gaps in the masking tape.
on my arches theres a bit of sponge-like material along the upper lip of them on the inside - is it best to remove this?

thanks mate
i got mine off ebay m8, from this seller...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SIKAFLEX-291-ADHE ... dZViewItem
i only used a quarter of a tube and that was plenty, i latered it on!
so if you want to bond anything else do it quickish as the tube is only meant to be good for 3 days once you have opened it and if you buy off ebay, state that you want it in white unless you have a black car and want it in black.
it is also paintable and make sure you got a few G-clamps and you leave it all taped/clamped up for 24hours (no peeking lol)
All the best

if you fit the xr2i bodykit on a 5 door you need to that the inner studs out as it wont sit close to the car. i learnt this last week.
