Major Clutch pedal probs.......
i have been trying to follow heemans guide on changing the clutch system for the stronger set up as my paddle has knackered the rear of the pedal and i now have no clutch pedal travel and its nearly impossible to select a gear and i have to start the car in gear all the time
So i tried to leave everything in the car and just remove the pedal......
But as the pic shows it clearly didn't work as there is no room whatsoever to do it like that so i removed the whole pedal box
Dunno how you did it heeman but you clearly have more patience than me!!!
Now i have these parts to fit....
And i have followed the microcat diagram and fitted them like this....
But if i rotate the quadrant the pawl just slips on the teeth which cant be good. The other thing too is the clutch cable bracket that bolts on to the end of the peddle box, is slightly different when its a manual adjust and so it gets in the way of the metal screw meaning the pedal wont move so i have had to angle grind a channel out of it for the metal screw as you can see so that when the pedal is depressed it does not hit the bracket......
I'm basically just not very confident.. I have the pedal box fully built now and looks like this...
But i don't see how the screw is actually going to work.
Am i right this is to adjust pedal height?? if so how as it seems to do bugger all.
Oh and should the clutch pedal have as much movement as the brake and accelerator as the clutch cable bracket still limits the movement of the pedal wen lifting it up.
Any help would be really appreciated!! Cheers Dave

Sorry to hear you couldn't do it with everything in place What exactly caused the problems? It looks as though to do the grinding etc you've done it would've needed to come out anyway though, unless you'd used the manual adjust clutch pedal bracket
As you may have noticed, my pedal worked quite differently to the manual adjust pedal, and Scort made it for me with a threaded boss at the front. The pedal height (i.e. cable pre-tension) is set by screwing the bolt in and out on mine. On the manual adjust, it looks as though turn the rod to release the ratchet, re-position the pedal, then turn the rod the other way to bring the ratchet back to the pedal, is that right?? I've never seen one before you see..

Ah..this old chestnut again
Thats exactly the same pedal assembly thing i now have in mine. I binned the white quadrant though and bought the proper bracket.
The pedal height is set by slackening off the white knob thing on the pedal. The pedal is then pressed to the floor. Next you pull the pedal up to the height you want it (you'll here a clicking sound when you pull it up if assembled correctly) then tighten the white nob to lock it in place.
You also have a spring missing chap which stops the pedal from bouncing up and down.

Yeah mate you should have a spring that connects to the pedal then to the quadrant. Also there should be a retaining spring that connects to the clutch pedal and pedal box.
If you can hang on till tomorrow i'll get you a few pics of it
You'll be able to copy off that then

well i have connected the sprng to the quadrant and peddle just now and it seems about right...
The quadrant now springs back up to the top of the pedal now.
Dave what other spring is there to connect the two? do you mean the spring clip on the end of the pedal shaft as thats fitted now mate. Have tried the way it is supposed to work and it does make sense now lol.
Heeman i couldnt do it all up in the footwell as it was giving me a bad back and i have a big head so had even less room!! Id def reccomend anyone to take the lot out but the guides you and dave did were a godsend, id have been fooked without em lol!!
Cheers guys, if i ever meet ya i owe you a few beers lol

blackierst : I have a big head so had even less room!!
Maybe I just have a small head or something I honestly didn't find it too much of a problem, at least once I'd seen the clutch cable needed withdrawing to remove the bracket. That was the only part that gave me a problem, and was resolved in seconds as soon as the cable was withdrawn. The biggest hassle was trying to get the heater pipe back on I think!
