What a Bargain!!!!!!

Postby black2 on Fri Jan 28, 2005 2:25 pm

Hey all, recently been looking to get an old knackered non-ABS xr2i for the brakes,( to put on to the FRST as it had ABS) ended up bying this good condotion beast for £200!! It has electric windows, central locking, alarm and imobaliser, and its totally original, no boy racers!!! and the best bit its only done 89,000! Its been welded twice underneath, but other than these two bits its a really solid car! Its to good to break so im going to keep it. Heres some pics.

As you can see the prevoius owner found some rust around the old rear wiper so he smoothed it off. (will be replacing this with standard hatch and wiper)

im quite pleased, it drives so well, no knocks, no brake judder not even any smoke on the over run the even the valve stem seals are good!
One thing though is that these xr2i's are soooooo slllloooowwww!!, but quite good on fuel. Its just had 4 new tyres, new altenator, starter motor and new exhaust, will be going for M.O.T on monday, will pass no prob's!

Thats a good find you've got there!!!

You can tell no boyracers have had it, it's still got the original orange indicators!

their my dads buisnesses plates. Gave the car a good T-cut and polish on the weekend, and cleaned / hoovered the interior out, just gota clean up the wheels and the engine bay and i will post up some more pics. The paint came up really well, shines nicly now. Sorted out a few probs with it as well, like the interior lights. One thing though, does any one no the reason why the rev counter dosnt work? Do they pik a feed up from the fly wheel or is it some where else? As it dont work and its annoying.

Im really pleased with how well it shined up, pics dont really show it that well, but the bay engine certainly looks a lot cleaner. A full tank of petrol £29 did 246 miles is this good for a xr2i?

Thanks Gareth.

A good deal you have there... very nice.

Now clean up that battery tray and paint it... can't let it make your bay look nasty

At the time it was taken there was 5. The only one left there now is the xr4x4. Both FRST's have gone (mine sold and brothers written off) I sold the xr2i and the Blue mk3 in the backround died in April this year.

We still have plenty of Fords though
