Um where can i get a 2.0L zetec from? and [ERRR] has to be changed? are u guys seriously bolting in scrap yard engines?

Yeah get a decent engine from a scrapyard and put it in! -You may want to change the ECU and gearbox as well.

I woundnt mind knowin EXACTLY what needs to be done to fit a 2.0 Zetec into a Fiesta SI 16v... Can any1 tell us?

An RS1800 lump will drop straight in without changing the ECU although it runs a lot better chipped. Alternatively use the RS1800 ECU.

A 2.0L mondeo engine drops straight in as well but you will need to chance the ECU. I believe this will simply plug in, in place of the std ECU. You will have to change the sump as well to a 1600/1800 zetec item as well to give clearance for the exhaust system.

If I'm totally wrong and the ECU's don't plug straight in then just change the loom as well.

Of course we use scrap yard engines. Where else can u pick up an engine cheaply? At the end of the day an engine in a scrapped car is the same as it being sat in the same car on the drivawayas everyhting is still connected etc. Admittadly u dont know the history but if ur gonna change the engine it's wise to overhaul the replacement one. :D

I upgraded from a 1.6Si Zetec to a 2.0 this summer.

If you have a 1.6Si it's pretty easy. Baiscally you have to swap a load of bits over inc sump, water pump, exhaust manifold, oil pump (but if you use the shorter CVH filter I beleive U can get away without this), inlet manifold, Mass Air flow unit, and injectors etc. Strongly encouregae you to look at look at the web sites you have been pointed to which is where I got my inspiration. By the way ignore the advice about grinding out the inlet manifold to match the 2.0 inlet port sizes--it's a waste of time as you will not get any noticeable power improvement
FYI I paid £395+VAT for my engine from a scrappie and got 6 months warranty. Unit cam from a 45k mile auto Mondy so should be low stressed. I also paid £25 for a 2.0 manual ECU (u can't use the auto one at all). What with various gaskets/oil etc etc I reckon I ended up spending around £500 all in.

My biggest fear was the ECU but yes it's a straight swap with no loom canges cos the Si and the Mondeo ECUs both use internal EDIS.

Auto ECU

Phil my friend--Auto ECU just won't even work cos the pin outs are completely different and Auto Mondeos also have external EDIS like the old CVH Fezzy. The Si is the only MK3 Fez that has internal EDIS which is whythe ECU is a straight swap, so your ECU must be from manual.

As to Engine differences there aren't any except for 1--the postion of the Crank Angle Sensor which is controlled by a small alloy casting that fits on the end of the block inside the grearbox casing. This MUST be changed for the manual one (Costs £2.50 if I remember) but needs box off to get at it. Without swapping this the engine will plain not go cos you get no signal from the CAS.

i got a zetec mondeo engine for sale mate, out of a 98 mondeo with 80000 miles on it, no flywheel or manifolds (which you wouldnt need anyway), if your interested, £150
