i was seriously considering it, the wiring is near impossible. Unless you go custom management. Problem is that the Focus ecu looks for everything and if half the loom is missing it just wont work. You would be looking at big money. Other than that the engine is basically zetec so will physically go in the engine bay :)

Any idea how much the engine would cost ?

I'm gonna look into this i think, seems a better option over a 2.0l mondeo engine

Hi,

As far as I know the ST170 uses something like "black oak" management system, which only controls the fuel/firing and has seperate control for other stuff (such as headlights, air con, etc).

Unlike other ECC-V Focus.

Don't quote me though :p

the main consideration is the management as said, if your gonna go aftermarket, then it will need to be able to control the VVT
i dont know which can or cant, but you`ll probably be looking at similar money you spend on the scoob

you will probably find a 2.0 (mondeo) turbo will be more cost effective

11k you would be paying someone like Fiesta frenzy to build you one from all brand new parts etc

if you do it yourself you could prob do one for about 2k

170 engine will prob be more than that all in

straight 2.0l 130 out the box, prob about 500-750 if you manage to get it all cheap and good condition

PS all above are my guesses never done any of them myself

Ian howell aint doing taking any engines on at the mo as he has his hands full. For the budget you specified you are not going to have a lot left over after the ST170 lump to get it in the car...
