Mk3 and 3.5 Suspension
I'm sure this gets asked loads, but i did a search and couldn't really find anything conclusive
Currently i have a mk3.5, but i'm probably getting a mk3 in a few days, most things will be easy enough to swap over but my only concern is the Suspension because.
Am i right in saying although Mk3 and 3.5 Rear suspension setups are different they are still interchangeable? so a mk3.5 rear strut and springs will fit straight onto a mk3.
I know the front Hubs are a different size but what kind of job is it to put mk3.5 front hubs on a mk3? and are there any other differences that will effect this?
Sorry for the stupid question but i need to be sure about this before i go trying to change it over
Cheers, Ju

The rear is interchangable so not a problem.
The front is not. If you swap the hubs then I would expect you would also have to swop the driveshafts and possibly the lower arms as well.

Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

ok, so just been out and trial fitted the coilovers to the si and.....
rears are no problem, nothing to change.... but the fronts you'll need to change the hubs.
basically the bodies on mk3.5 suspension are bigger than the mk3.

I can't see why you'd need to change the lower arms or driveshafts but I've not got that far yet...tomorrow or sunday and I'll let you know

Ok so I take that back....in order to fit mk3 suspension on a mk3.5 you need:
mk3 hubs - needed as the shock body is smaller on a mk3
mk3 driveshafts - needed as the spline that fits inside the hub is smaller in a mk3
mk 3 lower arms - needed as the bottom ball joint is smaller on a mk3
this leads me to think that maybe mk3.5's are a bit stronger seeing as everything is smaller on a mk3.... Hope that helps
