Undergroumd Race UK -budget project fiesta 1.6S
OK, was a bit quiet a few weeks ago and got offered this car at a bargain price so i thought buy it mod it a lil n sell it on , as ya do
Its a Mk3 3 dr. 1.6L S (weber carb)
This is the car after the first few lil mods were done such as painting the stripe in the bumpers red and fitting the colour coded ford badge and de badging the rear
Of course i had to put one of my company stickers on it didnt i, choose a prismatic one that changes colour in different light-
The engine was real clean which suprised me for a G reg mk 3 fez, i drilled the airbox quite a bit fitted a new panel filter and modified the air feed pipe to get more cool air in there- i also advanced the timing by 2 degrees and fitted 8.5 mm silicone HT leads and new plugs, it now runs a bit smoother and together these MAY have given 2-3 BHP extra- maybe!
The car also got a new xr2i radiator and water pump with all new gaskets.
A new battery also went on!
This body kit was on the car when i got it i believe it was an optional extra when new? the car also has sunroof elec windows and remote boot release. In the pic above you can see the mk 4 mirrors we fitted not too long ago.we also fitted some mk 4 visors which have mirrors on both and were generally in better condition than the originals.
The pics below show the rear of the car as the little touches add up,,,
After just a debadge and tidy
Then a heatshield and new back box plus a tad more colour coding
Then we tainted the bottom halfs of the rear lights too.
The backbox is a Peco BB2, inward rolled.
Whilst this was happening i also ripped off the front bumper and RS spioler and by now test fitted he Cosworth style bumper
The front end sort of drooped under the lights so i had to biuld this up again with some fibreglass.
Bought some paint in to be sure we had the paint code correct before we paint the front bumper , then thought we might as well use it to colour code the door handles too!
Used what was left to give the front bumper a quick coat (why not!) this will of course be rubbed down and resprayed hen resprayed again but in the pics at least it gives an idea of what the finished car will be a bit like.
Ive also fitted brushed alloy gear knob , Momo seatbelt pads and leather gaitor and some new front brake pads (OE spec) as well as tainting the side light bulbs in the headlamps.

Im in the trade meself mate so its all cost me less than £50 tbh (not inc the car itself)!
The car would have cost say £200 to do this to other wise id say.
Once ive done a couple more things ie clear repeators filler cap etc ill be putting it up for ale - unsure wether to MOT it first or sell it with out one!

Looks ok, Cossie bumper looks s**t tho.
Put the RS one back on, peel off that tin-foil, get some better wheels and lower it.

Theres about 3 red 1.6S floating around in my area that were registered by the local dealer and all had the RS Accessory Underbumper Kit and RS Wheels fitted. That looks like it could be another judging by what the Reg No ends in and its not to far away from me. Is that WR Davies on the bottom of the number plate?

Im just toying with it i dont wanna start chucking money at it which i wont make back when i sell so lowering and new wheels can be done by the new owner when i sell.
Each to their own if you dont like the bumper but hey its stayin if only cause i cant be arsed changing it now!
The RS kit was original yes , cant say ive seen a great many 1.6S with the kit myself although ive seen it fitted to some mk 3 fiesta vans.

batty boy, i havent been on here much, but from what i have seen of your posts your constantly critisicing other peoples cars and telling them how they should modify there own cars, and you drive a literally standard 1.1, i know we have to all start somewere, and i drive a 1.1 too, but come on, your making a right prat of yourself trying to tell turbo owners and the like what to do with there cars. just think before you type, i guess 98% of the people dont care about your opinions, people modify there cars the way they want them, not how other people want them, my car has m3 mirrors, clear lights all round, rage exhaust, lowered 60mm on 15s.my mates fiesta is basically standard, with a 2inch bore piper exhaust, orange indicators up front standard rear clusters, has a set of scuffed to hell escort rims with dodgy tyres, the car is 75% rust, and to top it off has a really bad badboy bonnet with evo vent, its maxpowered to death, and he calls mine crap and says ive modified it too quick, but thats him and i dont care.
just my 2 pence
sorry to hijack the post

Appreciate what your saying there 1.1 and agree too - I work day in day outmodding cars and supplying parts for others to do so i think i know at least a bit about it and what looks good and dont !
If you look at some of my demo cars youll see what i think looks good - this fiesta is a decent car in fairly decent condition and not too molested i aint out to make it look like a max power-ed s**t box just give it a little flavour thats all.
And then sell it on,,

I have a 1.3, Like engine size affects styling anyway.
I never said i didnt like it, I do. Looks cool with the RS kit and new mirrors etc. But that front bumper, IMO looks too big for the wheels and rest of the kit.
I prefered the more standard look of the rs front and it also fitted a damn sight better.

i can see what max is saying...as it stands it doesnt work...the bumper is too big for the rest of the car as it is...but if you look about it from another point of view....if the bumper appeals to the buyer then it a good starting point if they are willing to pay for larger wheels etc to balance out the car.....i would think you'd have better chance selling with the original kit on though
btw colour code the main part fo the mirrors

Thanks, I really do like that RS kit actually. Rear is a bit dodgey but looks ok with a big exhaust. Think id have to have that tow cover thing smoothed though.

OK the car now has colour coded OE style front and rear bumpers and the original RS trims are back on it and also now has some colourcoding in the engine bay, so its back to its original body kit and looking good !
So the clear side repeator lights will be fitted on Monday as will the alloy look two piece locking fuel cap trim .
One door card is loose and could use fixing or replacing! easy to do however.
On the log book this car has only had 2 lady owners (and ive only had it a few months in which time ive covered under 100miles!
The car is NOW for sale! ill take £335 OVNO offer as it is , or £375 with the cosworth bumper thrown in to the deal (if you dont like it you could sell it on?) If i MOT the car before getting an acceptable offer on it ill want around £500 for it with out the cosworth bumper!
BUY IT NOW AND GET A GREAT BARGAIN RARE RS KITTED FIESTA S !
pics to follow ASAP
(IT NEEDS JUST 1 INDICATOR BULB TO PASS ITS mot!)
