1.1 - 1.6S

Postby Brian on Tue Apr 27, 2004 11:34 pm

Hi, i know this topic has been covered many times before, but i was looking for a couple of pieces of info.

I'm putting 1.6 carb cvh from a mk3 1.6S into 1.1 carb hcs mk3.

1. Everyone sells 1.1 litre and 1.6 litre driveshafts as different items, what is the difference!!?

2. Will the engine loom from the 1.6 plug straight into the main loom of the 1.1? Or any other info on how many wires need to be joined to correctly work ignition system.

Re: Engine Conversion - only 3 questions left!

3. The conversion will be done complete with gearbox, (1.1 was a 4spd) so can i do the swap with the gear linkages still attached to save me having to adjust them?

4. Anyone tried the conversion between two cars with the driveshafts disconnected at the hubs rather than disconnected at the gearbox?

3. i wouldnt think so

4. You are changing the gearbox so you'll need the driveshafts out.
