1.1 azura has arrived
Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
xr2ilookalike :if its what ive got to pay i cant do anything about it
im gonna get door bottoms done too as ones slightly starting to rust
it wont be till april when weathers good and ive saved up
i wasnt expecting to have to do this. but rather it looks good instead of forever chipping and flaking off
what are you chatting about man your willing to pay £500 to have a bodykit sprayed just because you cant be bothered to look elsewhere, you are clearly being ripped off and are a fool if you do go and pay anywhere near that amount to have it done, im not digging at you i just dont want you to get mugged off, for the full bodykit id expect a maximum of £200 as iv had quotes all day long at this price and my colour is metallic and bloody expensive as per the flaking with your paint you have either 1. not keyed the primer properly as said or 2. not baked/heated/left the paint long enough to harden properly or 3. not laquered properly, IMO! as i have never had this problem with rattle cans before and i have gone to the extent with some people as comparing my and my mates painting with rattle cans to bodyshop painting and many people couldnt tell it apart the simple rule is the more time you spend prepping and allowing the paint to harden properly the better the finish,
id hate to see the progress stop on this thread as your having to save for ridiculous prices on such little work! keep at it mate

What that man said! if you take your time and get some heat on the job it should be fine, i painted some bits on the RS in my shed when it was snowing outside. just kept a hairdrier on the case.

i use one of the little elctric powered heaters that slowly blow hot air, i just use one of these from the first layer of primer all the way through to the last layer of laquer and iv never had a problem

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
mine is petrol blue
im only saying about that price because thats what im told
i have been to loads of body shops in my area and they all saying that price, i cant make them say cheaper
since ive done something wrong ie maybe not keyed it enough, how do i go about the parts ive already painted, ie the front bumper and front arches
do i have to take all the top coat off again ? and if yes how do i do that
the primers staying on well, i keyed it really wel before putting primer on and it was painted in my shed with heater on.
its now stuck on my car
(no comments like) , you should have painted it before you glued it on please, its on now.
i painted this kit like ive painted anything in the past and i didnt realise i was supposed to key the primer too so thats obviously the main cause
cant paint it yet though its wet and keeps snowing
my main question is what to do with areas already painted petrol blue, and how to go about redoing those areas???????

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
are you sure its petrol blue?
never heard of a lesser/poverty spec model coming with it
only the Si for that matter
once it warms up a bit or in a garage, sand all the painted areas down and then give them a wipe over with a rag and thinners/white spirit then let that evaporate, THEN paint it, bake it for a few hours then do another coat, sanding and using thinners prior to painting
then lightly sand with 1600 or higher, then laquer it, this should be baked for a few hours and left to harden for about 2 days before you wash the car, polish etc, technicly you shouldnt even let the elements get to it for this period but...

All normal fiestas came in the same colours as you could get RS and XR models in.

Them pedals are a nice MOT failure.
Engine upgrade would be good car will have some half decent power to go with the looks then!

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
you will have to checkt he engine mount design
if your going old school 1.6 then you might aswell go for the mk2 Xr2 cvh, or better still the mk3 version will botl in no issues
can even use the same car loom! and engine mounts

Looking good mate. Get a Mk1 1600 Crossflow in it... Although I wouldn't have the balls too.

it doesnt affect the driving, ive had 2 comments from blokes i know, its my only car i arnt just sitting around not using it.
ive drove in worse my mk2 escort was rusty olympic blue with brand new not even primered wings and lots of patches of red oxide paint, and my cortina, i resprayed it from blue to satin black with red front and rear end, so it was blue red grey, then red grey, before it was finally red and black.
im not bothered by it as long as it runs
