1.1 azura has arrived
Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
i dont know what i expected, but i dont remember my 950 xr2 look a like being this guttless
it takes a good long straight to get to 60 mph then you slow down for something and takes ages again to pick speed back up
it looks nice and its comfy but apart from that it doesnt do anything for me

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
theres alot more than just that buddy, u need to get a 1.6 water pump, oil sump, pick up pipe, use a different oil filter (r5 gt turbo is what i hear most people use), you'd be better off gettin a 1.6 si engine loom unless you fancy converting yours, you need to get the appropriate ecu to your engine along with <MAF sensor, you need to get a si rear engine mount, and source a fiesta inlet as you cant use the mondeo one and a fiesta gearbox as the mondeo one doesnt fit......theres loads more you need to get il try and find the list i had from when i was searching into it
(i might not be dead right with all these because anyone can make anything fit it just depends on your resources, skills and budget)

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
prsonally id go for the 1.8, its more strraight forward, parts are easier to locate,
find a XR2I, RS1800 or a typical 1.8 escort, theyre popular enough, can pop it in easy, all you need to do isd drill hole nin the plate the engine mount fixes too slightly further forward,
you will need the loomfrom a 1.6 fiesta \si, they pop up regulaly and go for aorung £30-£50 for the entire thing,
you will then need a bunch of Si running gear like radiator and coolant piping, the ecu from a ealier 1.8 escort, fiesta or mondeo, i have a BLOB coded one. it needs to be pre pats and internal edis, again these pop up on the forums and ebay now and then.
some wiring alterations are needed to the multiplug (grey one) where the engine loom mounts the cars loom in the engine bay, they can be obtained from http://www.fiestaguides.co.uk under the engine guides/2.0 zetec conversion
its an easier conversion due to you not needing a new exhaust manifold, different sump, oil pick up and water pump
, however with a 2.0 you will get 130 bhp from the off
the engine will have 105bhp using a S.O inlet (standsard on the earlier escort mk5) but its very easy to upgrade to the 130bhp figure a rs1800 posseses

Looking good. In regards to the engine Id go 1.8 zetec either out of an RS1800 or 130spec MK5 XR3I.

its had a decat and im just gonna run a cone filter to the original air box, with no filter in the box
ive chopped the front pipie off the air box and fitted a old heater blower pipe towards the inner wing and will put a cone filter on

I'm sure I heard somewhere decats on 1.1s actually make it slower? Could be wrong though.

I wouldn't bother mate, stick with the 1.1 and save the money you'd spend on a 1.3 towards the new engine!!
Looking good though, really wish I'd kept my old Fiesta

Fair enough. Yeah, want too. But it's a long process. Need to buy the carbs, have them custom fitted and tuned, blah, blah, blah. Cannot be bothered at the moment, but soon, soon lol Would sound great though!

3" outward rooled tips look
id love to swap one for my 3.5" inward tip, but cba to look into it, plus it would have to be of the larger engines

Outward rolled tips suit MK3's so much. I always wanted one on my RS1800 but could never afford it. When is the kit being painted?

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
todays been good, near my mates workshop another guy has a 1.1 mk3 fiesta hes weighing in, and he said if i give him £35 i can get some bits off it.
first he showed me how the cfi carb thingy should be working and it turns out mine was faulty so that went on mine and it has improved cold starting
then i got spares from the engine bay, alternator, starter, edis unit, vacuum pulse unit, fuel pipes, vacuum pipes, thermostat housing and top hose, rocker cover, inlet manifold, coil pack, throttle cable clutch cable, gear knob, parcel shelf, 4 x ford wheel trims, rear lights front light, indicator.
oh and a full set of door strips that will fit mine with the arches on and i can stick a blue stripe on so they match the xr2i bumpers, (the stripe is silver on them at the moment)
maybe more i cant remember
and when i got home my cone filter had arrived so thats fitted now and removed my filter from the filter box.

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
looking good buddy i used to have a scorpion 3" outwardly rolled backbox on my 1.3 sounded really good actually ( think its in the shed somewhere ) cars coming along nicely mate keep it up although like many have said the 1.1 to the 1.3 conversion is just a waste of time effort and money matey honestly my car was a 1.3 and its pathetic really lol, it wasnt too bad as mine had a fair bit of work done to it but i still wouldnt suggest doing it unless one comes up cheap and ur 1.1 goes pop (touch wood it doesnt )

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
its the airbox thats the restriction not the filter
it was proved futhermore in a recent Fast ford mag, the original paper element provided the most bhp, even over the K&N etc
its the airbox that holds the key, might be worth getting hold of a 1.3 airbox, its bigger and not as restrictive
