fitted door strips today, and my car now has a straight through exhaust with just a janspeed back box, sounds nice (the back box was already on, the one with the 3" outward rolled tailpipe) :D

Yeah you shafts will fit ant BC box from a 1.6

Get some calipers etc from an xr2i/rs or a fiesta si and they will bolt onto your current hubs. There 240mm brakes and will be fine for a 1600

personally id use RS2000 escort brakes, theyre 260mm ventilatedc will stop your car fine, the rear brakes will be fine. i have a 1.8 and my RS2000 brakes are perfectly fine :)

your current grearbox will fit the CVH too :) will make a slightly quicker accerating car, but wont feel as good, or be as strong

oh just noticed this,

umm fuel pump should just about be ok, but if the car isnt achieving full power id blame this first ;)

shafts will fit the XR2i, Si or RST gearbox, all 1.6 engines

your 1.1 box will fit the cvh, zetec enging boxes will also aswell as obviously the cvh ones

you will need the cvh exhaust system as your 1.1 one wont fit and will restrict it too much as the bore is small

you will need the engine loom, it might still be plugged into the engine that you buy, but check as it may not, this can simply plug into your car at the two grey multiplugs on the bulk head

get everything the engine needs, eg alternator, inlet and exhaust manifolds, all the pipe work for coolant and vaccume hoses etc

cant think of anything else atm

as this is a mk3.5 it will have the one single plug loom from interior to exterior not that hard to change over once you get the looms if you have trouble drop SMO a pm i'm sure he wont mind helping you as he changed mine over for me :D stick with the shafts you'v got buddy you wont need to change your hubs and everything this way and they will fit the box you have with the cvh engine..(im still using the 1.3 shafts on my RST and have had no problems) plus when i compared the RST shafts with the 1.3 shafts they were the same thickness anyway :-? so i wouldnt worry about them causing you a trouble,

as with the fuel pump you have the same problem as me as the fact yours is a mk3.5 which means you need to drop the tank to change the pump

its a very easy job just unplug the pump and i used a screwdriver and a gentle tap with a hammer to turn the locking mechanism and it just unwinds and you pull the pump out of the tank (if you have any trouble with this i sh\ll be puttin the RST pump in my tank soon so PM if help needed)

your cvh with run fine with the 1.1 fuel pump but if you are looking at pushing it into higher speeds i.e 70+ then i would change it as the 1.3 pump i have on my rst starts cuttin about and jumping not being able to provide enough fuel after about 120....

although with this said if you get a MFI engine i wouldnt worry about the pumps at all as your in tank pump will essentially be just priming the mechanical fuel pump so i wouldnt imagine you would have any problems....feel free to correct me if im wrong on any of this

All my MK3's have done that as well as my MK2, The gear box isnt knackered. In regards to the engine swap you might as well go for a zetec over a cvh engine. If you do go for a cvh dont go MFI, it was out of date technology when ford put it in mk4 escorts let along 20+ years later.

MFI is Mechanical fuel injection. Its what S1 and S2 Escort RS Turbos use as well as 88spec Escort XR3I's. To put it bluntly its sh*t. CVH's commonly come with eiter MFI, EFI -Electirc fuel injection (Fiesta RS turbo and Fiesta XR2I) and carb'ed (Escort XR3 and Fiesta XR2)

basicly its mechanical, so a engine driven pump sucks fuel and pressurises it into the injector rail

efi uses a electronic pump in the fuel tank

im not sure how the pump goes about its buissness on a carbed cvh though, but it wouldnt need to be as powerful all it would do in that case is keep the float chamber at level

but your best off going for a mk3 xr2i cvh engine, as it will bolt in easier and will be of the right mechanical age so all the engine loom will work in the car etc

im not sure of the xr2i but i know the RST runs on a coil, but i dont think the xr wouldnt be
