Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
You can get fairly good power out of the 2.0l pintos jony. Cheap and cheerful tuning too

EUFez :Soo you have two projects then? I bet your full attention won't go on the Fiesta now. Shame...
Sierra looks nice though. What do you plan on doing with it once you've tarted it up? Drift on the round abouts?
im going to drag race it

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
carb'd engines dont use an engine management, so no ecu, its a slightly tougher job considering yuor going from efi to carb
best thing to do is lose all the loom from the engine bay and put it aside, but you will still need stuff like fuel pimp prime and oil pressure and air intake temp... i dunno lol its a bit of a Bic™
best off converting to a Xr2i engine with Mpi
would be far easier all you'd need then is the engine, inlet and exhaust system complete, fuel pump and loom and ecu, preferably the gearbox too, done

+1, except id go the full hog and zetec it mate
if youre getting a cvh try and pick up an old xr2i, or a scrapper, get everything in one

Or get an RST mate it's a very easy conversion I done mine in November and would regret it if I put anything else in instead tbh

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
if your going for average power, the 1.6 cvh is perfect, its easy many around and straight forward
if your going for more power, with promising development in the future, a larger zetec or RST engine
which i dont think he wants

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
cheers guys but i just want simple cabr/dizzy/coil 1.6 cvh it will be much better than the little 1.1 im no good at all at understanding ecu injection and lots of wiring.
surely all i need to do is wire in the coil/dizzy through ignition obviously still use my original wires for oil water alternator and starter, and disgaurd all the edis coil pack cfi wires
am i on the right track with that??

like is aid mate i cannot say
best thing is to simply try it and see, if your not relying on the car you have little to loose, if it goes funlumps up refer back to the 1.1

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
That's all I wassayin it would be far easier to stick with injection than move over to carb you just swap the loom and ECU from your 1.1 ECU to the new loom and swap ecu's is very simple it is only the engine loom you need to change to.. An xr2i engine would best suit you IMO

agreed
mind you'd want the fuel pump too, it would be hampered by a 1.1 pump

Re: 1.1 azura has arrived moddifying begins
Do the xr/rs' have bigger fuel tanks?
I'd stick with injection too... an rs engine would be awesome but pricey!
Just a normal 1.6cvh will give this enough poke mate
EDIT: you'll need;
Ecu
Engine loom
Both mounts
Engine
Fuel pump
Probably a new clutch, would you be using the 1.1 box with it?

No all mk3 fiestas have the same 42litre capacity (the 2 litres is the reserve, after the needle has reached the bottom of the gauge
both mounts? only 1 on the engine, but yet it will be needed
even if the 1.1 clutch would fit it be almost useless as it would likely slip under power

he aint strictly wrong, thick old mucky oil can make changes stiffer, but not 1 gear on its own
its faster on acceleration due to the gear ratios built for the 1.1 engine being close and short
it will hamper top speeds

I got a whole RS turbo with mint interior for 400 quid so there are good bargains out there!

Yeah I agree an xr2i dinar car would bs perfect for this
EDIT: you'll need;

Both mounts (there is only one engine mount ?? )
Engine
Fuel pump (yes although my RS ran ok on the 1.3 for quite a while lol)

If you get a low milage one or a dinar car you should be fine with sticking with that clutch u have lol
Depends how much of a budget you gave for doing this with? I thought you didn't have alot.... And I would defo run it on the 1.6 box as with the driveshafts I have looked at my RS shafts and the 1.3 shafts and can see no difference at all so Im still on the 1.3 shafts as my donar was a mk3 and my car is a 3.5

Also i would grab 1maybe 2 metres of fuel hose as when I done my 1.3 to RS conversion I found the fuel line that went to the single point injection wouldn't attach to my fuel rail so just used fuel hose has worked fine for me
