It's always the same mate, but I really don't understand it, like I said my brakes have always been even and level?

its not going to be just a road going 1.1, im slowly making it into a car that will still be road legal to use on the drag strip, thats why ive been posting questions about how to go about fitting a bigger engine either cvh or zetec, im probally going cvh because i cant get enough information on how to fit a zetec and the only engine transplants ive done is from xflow to pinto in escorts cortinas, this is the first time ive got something newer and fwd (though it is 16 years old), im keeping the car on the road as i do this project.

my plan now, (as i cant seem to get enough info, to give me the confidence,) is to do all the other jobs, bar the engine swap, then i will buy a full spares or repairs mk3 fiesta 1.6s or 1.6si, that way i will have everything to put a 1.6 cvh/zetec, in place of my 1.1 motor, ill have fuel tank, pump, wires, ecu, ignition/keys radiator hoses etc etc

hope fully this will be completed by classic ford show "12 :D :D

hi people :D
ive just got a new car (new to me, not brand new)
mk3 mondeo 02 reg 2.0 duratec
so the fiesta is off the road now and it is going to get modified now
im going to start collecting parts in 2012 to convert it to 2.0 zetec
ive got a mate helping me whos into old fords like mk1 mk2 escorts anglias etc
weve decided to try this route
2.0 zetec, megajolt ignition system, twin carbs, escort rs turbo lsd box

i geuss i will need to fit either 1,6 si or 1.8 sump pick up pipe and water pump and alterater bracket.
why do i need to swap these bits ? why cant i use 2.0 zetec parts ?
what starter do i use for 2.0 zetec/escort rs turbo box ?
which top engine mount do i use too ?
any tips etc on the above or on anything to help me with this conversion
thanks :D :D

also would this fit on a zetec in my mk3 fiesta ?

do you mean as it is now?
its one cone filter with original air box, the airbox is empty

or do you mean after my modification plans?
2.0 zetec on twin carbs?
yes that will have two filters if side drafts dont fit i will use dcnf twin down draughts with a cvh inlet manifold and a cvh/zetec addapter plate

don't bother with the side drafts go for the twin dcnf i used to have a mk4 escort which had a set and it was awesome the noise and acceleration was out of this world not much could catch it and i run against some big power cars but invest in a lsd or you will doing nothing but wheel spin in almost every gear. :D :D :D :D
Also for air filter choice don't waste your time with sock style air filters the carbs suck them in and they are too restrictive i found using a filter which looks like a standard xr2 item but has cut outs for two sets of carbs best. Also using this set up minimses the risk of fire which the dcnf's where known for. Happy revving my friend

The pick up pipe is so you can run the 1.6/1.8 sump so there zorst manifold clears iirc the cutout for the zorst on mondy's etc is on the other side, water pump is because the Mondeo one faces the wrong way for the water hoses to reach, I'd use a frst erst or diesel starter buddy, and it's a zetec fiesta engine mount you use. This is all from memory if I'm not right someone will correct me its been years since I looked at zetec conversions
also would this fit on a zetec in my mk3 fiesta ?

yes if you run the 1.6/1.8 sump I should think that would fit :Q

its still got the 1.1 engine in, i put it back on the road as over the new year my mondeo had a fault (commom om 1.8/2.0 petrol duratec engines) the inlet manifold dropped to bits, lucky i caught it in time before it f**ked the engine.

so both cars on the road at the moment.

ive been trying to get the fiesta lower, it was on -40 all round now on -40 front -60 rears.

im wondering if ive fitted rear springs the right way up (theyre second hand, so no writing on them),do the tightest/compressed coils go at the bottom or top?

still want it lower

i might put -60 on front and coil overs on rear

ive also blacked out my rear lights and im waiting for delivery of rs turbo bonnet vents arriving from ebay

still got my BIG tail pipe lol

this post is about rear springs

just turned my 60mm rear springs around so the tighter coils are at the top now, these springs have no writing/markings on because all the red paint has flaked off.

im confused though, my old 40mm spax springsdo have writing on, so if i put these on with the writing the right way up, 1 would have close coils at top and other at bottom, unless they are not a pair as i did buy them second hand, they are both spax though.

well this pic here doesnt really pay reference to which way they go, maybe its irrelevant?

easiest way is to just test fit them, put them into the grove on the shock, and fit the top mount bush snug to the grove and see if the coil s**t level over the damper

Image

and dont worry mate, not sure ill be wanting them now, making do with my 30mm 's

the yellow spring is my Apex one, -30mm
red is the Gmax -60mm

they can vary in shape sometimes i believe, might be that yours ainr for a fiesta, theyre straight and similar in shape and diameter for both bottom and top of the coil :oooh:

on the front springs yes. but the rear springs dont vary in diameter they just go straight

them ones on ebay look fine to me mate, just make sure the spring ends sit flush in the top and bottom cups
but tbh i find that the springs tent to spin in the cups over time anyway but they wont come out of the cup

ok cheers its still not as low as i want it though, do you think it is because im only on 13" wheels, theres a gap between tyre and arch, when i look at others on here they seem to have no gap between tyre and arch.

also the fronts lower then the rear and fronts 40 rear 60

dont get me wrong its alot lower than it was

sounds like you want coilovers mate

and yea 13s wont close the gap much, but the car will still be hugging the floor, but some 14s or 15s on it and it will seem lower (less arch gap)
