1.1 gearbox on 1.8 zetec engine

I saw in one of the ford mags a mak3 fiesta with 1.8 zetec engine running the original 1.1 hcs gearbox. thinking of doing a conversion and with leaving the gearbox will save money untill i can afford a longer ratioed box. but looking at the haynes manual the clutches are differants sizes, andybody know how he has done the conversion.

i've always thought a 1.8engine would be to powerful for a 1.1 gbox and destroy it? but i don't know too much about it so.... :-?

Save money? You can pick up an XR 8v/16v/Si 16v gearbox for next to nothing. £30 would get you one, maybe cheaper.
