1.1 HCS engine Mods
Hey peeps
Im a crazy enough mofo to mod a fiesta 1.1 HCS
Im putting in a Kent Cams Sport cam kit
to the new engine as my last one blew up (Oil problems???)
Ive already got a k&n Filter and 4" pepco back box
Im thinking of getting a pipe manifold
Spitfire twin core ht lead and v spark plugs
U think the new sparks and manifold will make much difference
Anyone who wants to respond then do
(Hopefully gonna unleash 94 bhp with the new engine and cams kit)

Honestly mate just don't bother. You can spend a shed load to extract extra power and still not be close to having any proper performance. Drop a 1600CVH in out of an XR2 as it will be buckets cheaper and give you 90odd bhp as a base not a ceiling.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

I have to stick with the 1.1 as i had a 1.4 escort during summer and in sept crashed
This means the insurance would screw me over as i only passed my test in summer
Im gonna use the car this year to get me to and from uni next year with my 4 year course
and when my sister get a new car im getting her 45k 1.0 corsa SXI
It fairly mint and Loads more power than my 1.1
Anywho i may be crazy but ive got to mod something may as welll be the best starter motor to mod a mk3 fiesta

It will be easier to insure with a larger engine than with a modified one. You were going to declare the modifications weren't you?

Thats just what i was thinking.
If your insurance was really high i would keep your car standard for a while mate.

What's retro about a 1.1? If he had stuck a tweeked Pinto in then I could understand that.

pimsle a pinto would crush a fiesta front end... weren't they the heaviest 4cyl ford made? Apart from the diesels...

if i were you i'd save my money for two reasons
1 - your insurance (build up ncb's aswell)
2 - after university you might be able to spend alot more without the restriction of your current insurance & engine.

If u do a cams kit and ht leads and spark
no need to declare i phoned and they told me only exterior mods they were bothered about
Only obvious mod is my back box 4 " Im never gonna claim on a crash so should be fine
Well anywho I may sound crazy once ive finished uni im gonna get a evo 9 , a focus st, fiesta st, maybe a new punto, old bmw m5 or subaru
Either way this is just the start of my tunning life
one day im hopefully gonna have a car with 900 bhp 12 pot calipers and the fatest dunlop racing tires
im only doing my engine and alloys to this fiesta
SO anyone have any recommendation other than the pinto idea
I may as well drop in a lancia intergrali engine and 4 wheel drive distributor

Oh my dear God . Who ever told you you didn't need to declare mods that ups the power was talking complete nutsack. You MUST declare all modifications that deviate from the factory spec. FACT Insurers get particulary arsey about modifications that increase power
Not a case of you claiming, what about somebody claiming from you? I would be more than a bit upset if I didn't get paid out as you hadn't insured your car properly. Suffice to say I would persue you personally to recover my loss.

I don't know any insurers who don't want to know about engine mods.
Only insurers I know that don't want to know about exterior and audio are CIS as they cover up to 3k of that with their policies.

i am in the same situation mate. Im not able to get a new car but i want my fiesta 2 go a bit quicker as im going to be doing a lot of motorway driving soon. Plus ive puts some big boy wheels on it and now it goes even slower!?!?
What is the one mod that would make the most difference? Please dont say engine swap. Although i was thinking how easy would it be to put a 1.3HCS engine in my 1.1HCS. Cheers

What else is there to say really? Get used to driving a car with sensible power you can handle before you start modifying, or you'll end up just another statistic.
