1.1 to 1.1 conversion!
Ok, i'm radically improving the performance of my car by replacing my 1.1, with a 1.1
Anyway, joke aside, my car currently has a 4spd box and is carb fed, the engine i wish to install has a 5spd box and injection.
Can i simply exchange my inlet manifold with the injection's? I want to keep with carb to save on new wiring etc.
Will the 5spd box work normally if i just install it to my current gear linkage arm thingys?
Any help would be... helpful

cant see why u wanna go thru all the hassle to run a cfi 1.1
not sure what ya need to change exactly, but i think fuel pump needs to be electric rather than mechanical, and the ecu needs powering, so i'm guessing u need to change the loom over.
seems pointless as the carbed engine is slightly more powerful. u mite as well install a zetec or cvh efi, if u gonna go to all the effort.

conversion
I ain't, i wanna put my carb back on engine, less hassle wiring etc, more power/response, i just wanted to know whether anyone knew whether i could swap the inlet manifolds over, so i can put carb on injection engine.
Do u know about the gearboxes?

I think you will need to blank off the hole where the crank position sensor should go (if you're not using it for ignition) but that shouldn't be hard.

yes u can swap ure manifodl with carb over to the cfi engine
however im not sure if the internals of the engine are different to run the cfi programme ie compression etc

One word stops me from getting an engine upgrade - INSURANCE.
Damn them, i am installing a replacement, cos mine is old, the fourth piston rocks in its bore, the lower bearing things make it sound like a washine machine at idle and i blow a bit of smoke.
Basically someone ran it dry of oil before me and you can see bronzing on components inside where it has overheated.
Thanks for th help guys - i'll look up the compression ratios next!!
Lastly, pushing mu luck here, is there any way that i can keep the reverse gear where it is - on a 4spd you push down, then move it across left and up, i dont like the 5spd reverse where u pull right and back. Any ideas???????
