S1 :Is that kitchen roll tube some sort of home-made induction pipe?
i ment to remove that, but i used kitchen roll down each bore and a load of oil so that they didnt start to corrode, also why there is bricks holding down the oil soaked news paper

Wicked - me and Grant have spoken about this conversion for the plopper many times!
I'm glad someone's going ahead with it - I've got a feeling the engine is really going to surprise us!
£10 says that the oil pump or chain will snap first
Is it going to be CFi or carb mate?
Cheers,
Andy

FezzR :running how much boost?
You could have just left the question at "running?" lol
They were just thoughts and were very unlikely to ever get much further
I'm definitely going to be watching this with great interest though - so you better bloody do it!

the reason i said that was because the if u use soley ka bits youd have maximum boost of 0psi as it wont recognise positive boost and run lean.Smo :You could have just left the question at "running?" lol

you clearly dont know be to well id be suprised if the car ever gets back on the road lol.Smo :I'm definitely going to be watching this with great interest though - so you better bloody do it!
from looking at the build quality of the head it is extremely heavey and stong, but, the accuracy of machining is just shocking, hopefully change that tho.

Oh, I weren't suggesting that the management be used, but the head (if possible/needed - should imagine if it was needed, it could only be used on the 1.3 block?) along with the rest of the inlet/injectors etc and then run on some other management. No idea if FRST stuff could be used well, but I reckon it could be made to run.
Like I say, these were only thoughts I had a while back, but I'd probably give it a go if I could get the bits cheap enough.
Is yours a 1.1 or 1.3?
And hey, even if it doesn't get back on the road - would still be a cool to do

heads i would have thought are identical, only manifold differ, ka being plastic, and aparently the plastic ones are crap.
frst or similar is probably the plan, reseaching that at mo,
head work and turbo to head adaption work starting 2moz hopefully.

todays progress = small
removed valve stem oil seals
removed thermostat that was well and truely corroded into the head.
removed temp sensor
degreased
purchased caustic soda
just need to find something big enough and resiliant enough to dip the head in the caustic solution now
