1.4 CVH help

i got a 1.4 carb cvh engine in my mk3 fez. it's a first car. i want to do something to boost up the engine a bit. i'm going to advance the timing etc. what else could i do?

Is advancing the timing going to make it any quicker alone?! :-?

Your best bet would be to give it a good service, new air filter, plugs, leads etc - you will be suprised how new parts can help an older engine.

air filter, exhaust, cams, vernier pulley are probs the cheapest option
At least i dont drive a saxo!!
