1.4si to erst lump
how hard would it be to fit a ERST lump into a 1.4si?
would it be easier to fit a frst lump?
just tryin to find out how much work is envolved, cuz i know a guy that has 3 turbo engines lying in his garage. but im not sure if they are ERST or FRST or both!!!. he will be doing the conversion if i go ahead with it but ive no idea how much he will charge. so i want to go for the easiest option to keep cost down
Cheers Neil

well m8, the ERST Lump and FRST, is the same to look at as its CVH, but i think you'd be better getting the FRST Lump, you would have to get ECU, Loom, Intercooler, Radiator, Pipes, quite a lot of other stuff too. It can be done though.

problem is ill have to sneak it past the insurance and my parents, they only ever drive the car out of the drive way
dunno but havent talked to them about it yet, car needs a new clutch any way so ill have to price that up and get the mechanic to phone up and recommed the engine transplant
at least an RST lump is similar in size and appearance to the current one.

Its has a turbo, intercooler, charge carrier and such and such. if your going to change the engine tell the insurance about it cos if you do crash then they will check your car, with it being modified, cos they want any way then can to not pay out.
They're not idiots either. they will notice a pipe going across your rocker cover with the word "Turbo" on it and a t2 wedged behind your radiator.
