What mods can I do to a NA 1.6 CVH to get some more power. I was looking at a Piper cam kit but the increase is only around 12bhp i think, i could be wrong. :-?

cams, power boost valve, ported and polished head, superchip and air filter from the top of my head. stripping some of the car down also saves weight as you will already know :D

if any of the above is wrong i apologise but im pretty sure they do the job

superchips can make a noticeable differnce in acceleration and bhp if you have a pretty much good setup elsewhere. power boost valve (again someone correct me if im wrong) is something which you can adjust to allow more fuel thus making it a bit faster

theres one on this site.

hope that helps matey. :)

well if your taking about a carb fed one then big carbs, cam kit, gasflowed head, exhaust manifold...if you mean efi then chip,cam,head,manifold...good filters and a good exhaust for both... my 8v 2i with a stage 1 head, kent cvh 22 cam kit,k&n,scorpion made 120 bhp....so for a round a grand it made 12 bhp...dont expect loads of gain for your money... :)

i went 1.9 bottom end route with my old one, but it aint cheap to do.

as abovem head, cam, manifold, good system, chip, induction kit. if you got the cash then look at boring it out and fitting higher comp pistons. but talking mega money. my 1.9 cost me about 7k maybe more in the end,

7k for a 1.9 bottom end!!

in all fairness 12bhp from a piper cam kit doesnt sound too bad. Have you considered turbo'ing it? There are engines floating about on ebay for a few hundred quid, the tuning potential per pound is tonnes better
