christ is that all the 1.6's go to? had my 'little' 1300 up to that point on speedo on many occasions. just before 120. mind, had a bit of work like. would suspect about 120 on speedo, 110 actual?

But then again this is ford speedo's

On the book they reckon top speed of 109, Des got to 120, Dave's got to 113 then run out of road..

There is no way to increase the pull without a lot of money, only a few things I can suggest:

Piper cams, take out your original cams, these babies give a fuckin load more torque and make you pull like a pimp in a nightclub.

2.0l throttle body, will seriously give you a lot of pull, need an EMF re-map though. that costs.

RS 1800 gearbox, will give a lot lore pull down the gears, obvioulsy making you get up to 110 faster.

All quite a bit of money mate, but aren't worth it on a 1.6, get a 2.0l when you can afford it and then do all of that to it, will go like a Bic™.

I get 120mph flat out down the A13.

Apparently the Si gear box only goes up to 125mph! But if ya doing conversions etc, keep the Si gear box and ya get better acceleration. U don't really need to go any faster than a tonne really, unless ya what a ban!

Think they do 130 actually, they just aren't powerful enough. MAte has a 1.8 and has gone through about 5 gearboxes, thats how we have fun LOL

Indeed, pull faster than a standard RS turbo, and still saves you all the hassle from a turbo

I didn't think you could put the 2.0l throttle body on to the 1.6? I've only got 110 mph on the clock, but it's jsut not rapid enough. Anyone help re the throttle body, my dads a mechanic so i want to keep him occupied!!

Only snag is you need to get your EMF remapped so it adjusts the fuel level. :)

its not just teh throttle body that effects it.. its the size of the valves.. and the ports on the engine...

The Si ports are like this o and the 2.0 are like O < that  :D

Valves are also just too small on the Si

yeah i know the si has tiny valves, so not hopeful of any massive increase when danfezsi gets it done. but curious to know if its worth it, ta

rollin road set up at john noble motorsport is £55 per hour.

as with most mods such as zorsts etc its all about increasing the effeciency of the engine and to this extent the tb will help.

hey only a week and we will see how it does. if it beats 94.5 then its done somet :D

Tbh there's as much if not slightly more valve area on a 1600 Zetec than a 1600 CVH. The restriction is the diameter of the inlet tracts in the head, low cam profile (afaik) and restrictive TB.

Unfortunately as far as I know you can't open out the 1600 Zetec inlet ports very far without breaching waterways.
