dont no if this is a problen or not but when i get to bout 80mph the rev limiter is on 4000rpm and near 5000rpm at 90mph and doesnt seem to really want to go go any faster, some people say they can do well over 100mph but i dont even get that. is there any thing i can do or look into or is this completly normal, dont no to much bout engines so i thought i would ask some of you guys

I'd say it's perfectly normal for a car of that age. Depends on the condition of the engine etc.

i no it dont help, but my xr does 119mph in 5th, and get to about 107mph in 4th. not sure of rev's as the rpm count thing, likes to jump about :lol:

even my 127k 1.4si with no maf will do a tonne! engine could be very worn

my 89k 1.4 CVH did about 100 maybe a little bit more, so i agree with andy.

I would start by looking at the cam as the stock item is well past its best at 70k miles.

May be worth having a tuner giving it a thorough check over. Tweeks to get it through the MOT don't do anything for performance.
