1.6 Zetec Turbo?

Postby AndyRS1800 on Fri Nov 18, 2005 12:15 pm

I'm askin this because i dont have random engines to try it...

I wanna know if its poss to mate a frst engine and a 1.6 zetec engine,

Dont really wanna be spendin a fortune on a zetec turbo, all i want is a bit more power than a standard frst and a zetec engine, so is it poss to stick all the turbo bits on the 1.6 zetec... pistons, management etc rather than gettin a 2.0, claibra pistons, bigger injectors, custom management etc...

Dont really wanna go from a zetec to a cvh and i like the look of a tidy zetec turbo under the bonnet,

Cheers.

I'd stick with 1600cvh personally, if your only after a bit more power, its tried and tested and cheap.

Was thinkin of stickin a 2.0 zetec in there but its nice to have a bit of chatter, but if i'm gonna be drivin a 2.0 corsa everyday then i need at least 150bhp in the fez,

Exactly, but its also gonna be sat in the garage all year, so maybe N/A would be a better option, can spend the money on chrome n stuff then, we will see,

you could quite easily do what james 1.8 had done,

sandwich plate to lower the compression
management change
and a small turbo for you, T2 or T3
you'd need better manifold and throttle body ideally but even 2.0 or st170 bits would be ok

I've heard of 1.6 zetecs being turbo'd, I'm sure it was described as an expensive option for small-ish gains. Definately been done though!
ZT now gone, driving a 330ci.....
