1.6carb breather system

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Postby SimonT on Sat Sep 29, 2001 11:26 am

Im trying to fit a 34 DMTR on my 1.6 CVH with a bolt on air filter.

With the standard carb/air filter housing theres a pipe that goes from the rocker cover in to the air filter housing. This has no-where to go once the new carb is on.

Obvisously i cant stick in on the manifold as it would suck up me oil!!!

I really dont know what do to do.

Any help would be well appreciated!! A pint goes to the best idea I reckon!

cheers

Simon, Halfords sell the 8v injection breather swirtl pots. These have a thin-bore vacuum feed to the inlet manifold, which provides the necessary vacuum to maintain the flow of piston ring blow-by vapours which avoids sludging. There are also two larger pipes, one at either end. One of these goes to the rocker and the other can be dangled down underneath the car. Ford designed them upside down, so oil vapour off the rocker cover tends to go into the inlet tract, sludging up the injection system (if you have one) and coking up the valves.

Al, are those swirl pots better than the originals, and also how much are they?

Cheers, Rob. :bonkers:

About £10.99-£12.99. They're on the top shelf above the oil filters.

They're fine, and you can pop 'em open to clean 'em.

Otherwise, Bailey Motorsport do a shiny one for megabucks
