1.7 turbo/1.8 turbo

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Having seen the argument raging on in the other post I am weary of posting this, however here goes.

What would be more advisable; 1.7 puma engine turbo, or 1.8zetec turbo. I believe the puma would go in easier to my mk4, and it produces 127bhp as standard ( i know the 1.8 produces less).

I have been quoted about £2000 for the 1.7, but don't know about the 1.8. Would the insurance be considerably different between the two??

Bearing in mind I am NOT looking for 400bhp or anything, maybe tune it to 170 or so, until I can afford to uprate the associated parts which would undoubtedly fudge under the power.

Any ideas??
Cheers

I'd got for a 1.8 turbo, size beats any tuning mod. But the 1.8 RS has 130hp std due to a few added extras look into these as they are good news for turbo engine (oil was for pistons!) Insurace will still be £££ as it is a new modified engine being installed. The 1.7 gets more hp as it has variable cam timing, dunno if you can put a puma cam in a std 1.8 zetec, I'll investigate!

the puma engine uses the same engine mounts, and the puma manifold would be useable. So if to start off with I just added the engine, would give me 130 ish brake after exhaust. As long as it was enough to beat a vectra sri I would be happy. Then once I finish uni and get a real job, stick a garret t3 on the endo if and woooooosh
