1.8 130ps project in my si

Postby spike on Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:01 am

ive got the 1.8 130ps sittin in my garage.
and ive already fitted the whole efi system, manifold, injectors throttle body etc

i was considerin 2 options

1 to keep the cars original block. just put the head on to go with the injection n sort out a remap but i dont no wahich maf n ecu's wil work for that????

2 a full engine transplant bearing in mind the engines done 12900miles but everythin looks sweet? but again i dunno bout the ecu n maf

i have been told the 2litre ecu wil work but ive got to graft on the 2.0 maf which has bigger bores?

we need a rs1800 ecu late spec 94-95 at the beggining of serial on ecu also named CULT

and a rs1800 maf as all mafs are configured wrong apprently

I'd keep the original block and head and transfer the cams and inlet etc over. This will save a load of grief re-registering the cars engine number as it won't have changed.

You need the ECU and MAF for a 130PS car RS180, Escort XR3i 130 or Orion Ghia Si 130. HTH

i have got the ecu( code - 2FBC) and maf from the orion i got the engine from...

but ive been told it wont work as orions and escorts run external edis... somethis to do with power steering?

ive also been told the 1.8 n 2.0 r dif from the 1.6 so if i put just the cams in it would smash off the valves???

but puttin the head on works as some1 i no has done it?

The ECU you have will not work because of the differences in the EDIS, nothing to do with the power steering.

As Oranoco has told you the easiest way to do the conversion is to put the 130 cams in your engine and swop the inlet manifold, throttle body, injectors, MAF sensor and ECU. The ECU you need is CULT.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

But why would you want to do this even if it was possible? just put a whole 1.8 or even better 2.0 lump in.

just listen to advice when you're given it, dont jump down people's throat.
there are some knowledgable people on fsi.com and ft.com.

if you wanna put the 1.8 head on the 1.6 go ahead, we wont stop you. but dont expect miracles.
we're just trying to advise you on what would be more economical for you to do.

your a nutter! :D  :D go for it if you like and makesure that you post all the info on here if you do.

But as it's been said above if you like tinkering etc, you should slot in something better and mess with that because I guarantee you'll end up going down that route at a later date.
