1.8 head onto 2.0 zetec block

Postby rs220bhp on Sat Jan 31, 2009 1:00 am

I have a stage 2 1.8 zetec head and my block has given up the ghost. I can get my hands on a 2.0 zetec block. I understand ill have to change the sump and stuff from my 1.8 to the new block but main issue is will the 1.8 head be ok to use on the 2.0 block or do i source another 1.8 block.

Thanks in advance

yes the 1.8 head will fit (asuming both engines are silver top) And in theory by doing this you will have rasied the compression ratio due to the smaller size of the combustion chamber in the 1.8 head.
Make sure you dont have any problems with valve clearances, i dnt think you will, but best check before running the engine.

Also you could run into problems with detonation. Not saying you will, but it's a deffinate possibility if your running a standard ecu with a higher c/r. But as you have a stage 2 head, im guessing it's been chipped, or aftermarket management is being used.

hth :)
