1.8 TD turbo?
Does anyone know what turbocharger was fitted to the Escort 1.8TD engine? Think it's the Mk4, the ones from around 1993. Basically I want to know what the next size up would be....T2...T3....? I know not many people know about diesel stuff, but there might be a chance?

I'm almost sure it uses a T2... don't know the A/R it runs, though.
Unless you're going mental on that engine, I don't think u'd need a bigger turbo... my td runs a smaller turbo than the Mondeos, doing 0,7 bar (about 10 psi) and it pulls hard all the way up to 4.8K without any signs of running out of puff. I'd advise you on using the standard turbocharger, getting a proper front mounted IC, having your fuelling and boost properly set up and keeping an eye on the temps. That engine doesn't need to run much more boost over standard to produce very satisfactory results... but I cannot stress enough the need to have it professionally set up... it will make all the difference between an engine that performs flawlessly and retains its longevity and one that will eat itself from the inside. Note that most Mondeo/Escort TD engines already have a respectable mileage on them...

I've been told they use a T1.5, so was wondering about shifting up to a T2, although I was told today it could be a tricky procedure. I don't know what sort of gains to expect from mounting the intercooler in the bumper, no more than 5-10bhp I can't imagine, still worth it I guess. The Escort TD intercooler's a fair amount bigger than the FRST intercooler too I think, so could be a pain to fit. Any chance I could use a FRST intercooler in its place, which would mount easily behind the bumper??? I'm all for giving it to a diesel specialist to have it running spot on

Stop it, we don't have to speak like this. We are all English, and want to be happy when we use this website.
Yes, it's nice. That is Spanish though not Portugeese, which Goncalo is.

Excursion :G restrain yourself, your distsate of the west is beginning to show
Well, as far as my geography goes, England is to the East of Portugal. But I can't really say I have anything against you brits... well, I may hold a grudge against your prime minister and Oasis, but that doesn't really count, does it?
You can speak all the spanish you want, you XR2i lookalike driver... my pride for my nation is far greater than that! We were once rulers of this world you live in and shared the earth with the spanish like it was a birthday cake, sinking our fangs in every piece of it, even the ones with marzipan! Of course that now we're just a bunch of poor guys waiting to be dropped into the ocean by those eager spanish... how did we sink so low? See? Now I am depressed, and its all your fault!
Can somebody move this to the Political discussions, senseless ramblings and worthless bitching section, please?

We simple minded spanish ppl don't understand that... we are so self centered that we think that everything to the left of us in the map is west and the stuff on the right is east. Its much simpler than all that fuss you're going on about... besides, the world is way too spherical for us to be able to define such a division... it makes our little mediterranean brains hurt.
Its either that or its the rest of you brits that are so desperate to join the sons and daughters of your ancesters that try to diminish the gap between u and the US of A by saying "we all live in the west". Tut tut tut...

Doing a bit of diagonal reading, are we?

I'd say that isn't last month, thats about 200 years ago... but apparently your PM doesn't think so. And I don't follow trends, mate... I stick to the truth, and thats a classical. Unlike the Paris Hilton issue or George Michaels cartoon video, it never gets out of date.
Will this thread ever stop?
