Very good.....my mate has a 1.9 low compression engine in his FRST, with a T3 and Ahmed map - good for around 280bhp and is fast as fcuk!!

It's a good conversion as the block is design to be a 1.9 and not a 1.6 bored out.

 - 280bhp (genuine) - thats alot of power!
And if Bassboy is right about maxing the boost upto just 16psi then - thats some serious power for just 16psi!

James - is your mates Fiesta really a genuine 280bhp? and what boost is he running and hey..... what kinda torque figures mate?

It's good to know that people really know what their talking about on this board  *cough cough*

Sunny.
Do you have any idea what 178.8mph feels like in a Fiesta? 2000 lb of pressure per square inch per second pushing back on your face. It feels like god himself is trying to rip the skin off your skull while someone lands a 747 on your chest.

not for £ for bhp though, CVH still far cheaper to tune and it will be like that for at least another year

Sunny, 16psi is correct as it came from one of the main guys from SE himself!!!....if it could handle more...Virdi was gonna go for it! the 1.9 will be able to handle more boost....but for how long is another question altogether!

Depends if you like 80s technology or 90s?

There isn't a CVH turbo Fiesta on the planet that won't get it's arse kicked by a ZVH or 16v one!

If you need convincing ask Ian Howell, Sunny, Paul R, Bassboy, Momo, Paul J, Mike Gurney, Muffking, or Sketch, Dave Edwards, Jeff or any of the zvh / zetec guys on the RSOC board!

Not entirely true (I know of a couple of fast'ish CVH turbo's) that might be slightly quicker than some low spec ZVH's).
However notice my point above when I am comparing :-
In general, only compare HIGH spec CVH's to LOW spec ZVH's and 16v Zetec Turbo's (even then most of the time the ZVH's will always come out on top)
Oh before any other Tuner wanna be wants to correct me - thats comming from Sir Ian Howell himself!

Sunny.
ps - This thread is not to run down anyones CVH Turbo engine's (Power is a factor of how fat your wallet is!)
I think I used to be considerably rich at one time

Nah, I meant for the fastest CVH Fiesta there will always be a ZVH or Zetec that is faster.

Out of interest Sunny, why are you spending soooo much money on a ZVH conversion when surely you could have gone the whole nine yards and converted your car to a Zetec 16V turbo, and had even more power??!!!!

JJ - Without sounding rude.
I care not to comment on that remark as you dont know the technical technical spec of my new engine.
I can promise you one thing (this is also comming from Ian H and very few people that know the technical spec of my new engine) - I can quote that my engine will be more powerful than ANY 2.1 16v (inc Ian H's old Fiesta) in a fiesta so far.
All you need to do is sit back scratch your head and say "yeah right!" and wait for the proof!

has anybody actually answered moose's question yet?
I may as well give a bit of an answer seeing as I have a SE 1.9+ stage 3 in my FRST.
Here goes, Reliablity - no problems yet, done about 3k so far and not a single problem.
price - cost £3.2k all in, thats for:

American 1850 'tall' block
(overbored 1mm I think)
cross hatch honed 83mm bore
american 88mm stroke crankshaft (small big end journal type?)
high flow oil pump
American modified con rods
American 83mm modified pistons
Felpro Head gasket
gas flowed big valve head - inlet 1.71" exhaust 1.5"
full engine balance
AP racing 3 part road clutch
Piper 285t2 camshaft

plus fitting, gaskets, coolant and oil - oh and a new water pump.

havn't given it toomuch spork yet as it's not had it's service and tune (this saturday!! hooray!) but it feels much more powerful than my old 1.6 150bhp.
overall I feel it's worth it, might seem pricey but bear in mind you drop the car off and pick it up 2 days later, no hassle no messy hands!!

Sunny, what bhp do you reckon? running 9psi boost and not been mapped by Ahmed yet. what do you reckon after?

I am killing myself and counting the days left until my car returns (dunno why, going to the bodyshop soon after - probably for ages again  )

before it's mapped: standard spec turbo and standard blue injectors.
after it's mapped: standard spec turbo, beige injectors and uprated fuel pump.

what do you reckon?

There's also an interesting post going on on the RSOC BB about ZVH/Zetec vs. CVH - maybe you'd care to post a comment?!
