12" Sub mounting

Postby ukgaz on Tue Oct 16, 2007 1:14 pm

OK, just in the process of rebuilding my ICE setup, i've got 2x12" subs each in seperate boxes, im only planning on using one, but need to know whats the best way of mounting it so it doesnt fly over my boot and bash up my amp, which i'll probably drill onto the back seat,

In my boot i have a big piece of wood that goes across the bottom of my boot (which i cut to the shape of my boot myself), with the boot carpet over it so you can't see its there.

Both my amps and sub box are screwed into it keeping everything in place so nothing can get damaged.

Dunno if that helps at all but i tried :)

Buy a box for the sub and screw the amp onto the back of the box and have the speaker facing inwards (so when you open the boot you see the amp comprendez? lol) buy a roll or strips of velcro, velcro the carpet to the floor and velcro the box to the carpet. That should be more than adequate. Thats how I had my 12 set up in my old si.

Highly useful for hiding stuff. I had a chipboard floor myself.

just had an idea, get two peices of metal, drill them onto the sub, make sure some is handing over, then drill that onto the back of the seat, sound like a bit of a plan?

Erm, if you mean mounting the sub without a box, then no. They're not designed to work like that and will just sound awful.

If you mean fastening the box to the seat, then it sounds fine.

Whats the purpose of that tube that looks like it was taken from a tumble drier?

Subs sound a 100 times better in boxes.
