I've been speaking to a specialist and I'm going to fit a 120 amp bosch alternator, with a 14.8v stabilser slightly higher than normal but essential for decent sounds. Apparently he's last 4 orders were all fords, and apparently the type they use is s***e. Its going to cost 100 notes, and I'm going next door for fitting. I have to buy a ford diesel battery, but what the heck, I want it relliable, and I won't have to worry about big sounds.

[Edited by chrys (16-12-2000 at 04:43 PM).]

got that alternator fitted runs 14.8 V at the rear lights!
Everything is dead bright, for christmas.
To run 1000 watt amp, u need a wire rating of 60 amps. If the motor uses a 60 amp alternator as standard, then this totals 120 amps.
It does use more power though, but mine was f**ed anyway, hence why battery light kept going off and on.
