130 bhp 1.8 engine

Postby Benyboy on Sat Jan 25, 2003 6:21 pm

ive found an orion ghia si 1.8 for sale at a pretty good price -
im looking at buying it for the engine to go in a mk 3 fiesta.

Anyway, on the parkers website it says that there are two models
of orion ghia si 1.8 - one with 105 bhp and one with 130 bhp.

the owner doesnt know which it is, just wondering if there is any
way to tell the difference between the two - cuz obviously i want the
130 bhp one :D

thanks people,

Ben

Hmm

Only guessing but 130bhp is pretty quick and would have put that class orion in the sporty range.
If he does not know he has a sports model I would say it isnt and he has the mundane 105bhp version ;)

There should be a sticker on the inlet pipe that runs over the engine with the ps number on it,eg 90,105 or 130.Might have been removed though :(

You could try asking on the forums on http://www.sorted-orions.co.uk as they should know :D

I've got this info from someone who was sold a 130PS engine that turned out to be a 105PS.

To be sure the 130 engine will have a code stamped on it (usually on the block just above the thermostat housing) The 105 engines will be RD whilst the 130 will be RQ (Often looks like RO)

Stephen

Parkers would indicate there was a 130bhp version as well as 2 105bhp versions

On the Mk5 XR3i one way of telling the difference between the two engine models is that the 105ps model has drum brakes at the rear whereas the 130ps has discs. I dont know if this applies to onions aswell but its something to bear in mind :)
