pretty sure therer is more work involved, i swapped a 1.6cvh turbo engine into a 1.4si, the mechanics were pretty straight forward, had to change to manual steering rack tho.
but the wiring is a bit of a Bic™ ( i hate wiring looms :x )

if i was you go the turbo route :D

Rs turbo sounds like an idea but what am i looking at work wise??

engine
turbo
gearbox + drive shafts
loom + ecu
intercooler

The only problem is your going to need to upgrade the brakes, gearbox(clutch) and suspension if you go for a 2.0l or 1.6turbo, becuase the parts from a 1.4si are not up to the job, they are fine for a 1.6 but any bigger engine like a turbo'd 1.6 or 2.0l and your not going to be able to stop or change gear particularly well, and these are some of the most expensive parts including labour for a car. IMO you should sell the 1.4si and buy a 1.6si, that way its an easy swap to a 2.0l and standard brakes and gearbox will be sufficient! :)
