150bhp out of diesel engine

you might get close to 150Nm torque but 150 bhp won't happen as it just can't rev high enuf.
Paul (mmogenius) has fitted the 1.8 Turbo diesel lump into his van and if you ask verrry nicely and offer some fat wad, he might sell you the car as he's done a helluva lot of work to get it in there

call me a thick stupid monkey brained tw@t, but didnt redline feature a 150Bhp turbo derv fiesta about a year ago. It had a T3 lots and lots of engine work. Cost him about 8 - 10 K (I think, will dig the article out soon)

Ive not got a fast car, in fact its quite pedestrian, but the other day i thought well bollox theres so much damn traffic no matter how much I over take (increasing passenger uncomfort factor) i never get anywhere so just what the hell is the point of owing a so called sporty car.
At one time there was a point, for instance 10 yrs ago, my parents had saphire cos and at that time you could use it but now it dosent matter if u have a micra - stop at the traffic lights and everything u overtook is behind you.
Its false economy I reckon and thats why Im after a diesel.
ALL HAIL THE OIL BURNING PLOMPLE GONKS!
PS ok to be fair speed does rule but where can we use it nowadays? trackdays are full of unsafe boyracers ready to take you out in their modified do-do heaps and the roads are full. I think somebody needs to terraform the moon, grade the surface and paint white lines all over it. Right time to go out...

PS y do UK tuning firms charge so much, its an insult
for instance across the pond you can get a fantastic set of forged pistons for the zetec (turbo) for $517 but here f u got them its like way over that.
And they charge you absolutely rediculous prices for these ECU piggyback chips - and we pay them.
You can build a ROM reader from components and it would cost you bugger all over £14
My man **Andy_xr2i** in notts is working on this and hes come a long way in the quest for knowledge, its about time we made a stand!!
ooohh err im mashed, seeya lovers xx

There is no-way a 1.8 diesel will make 150bhp. I have just read in the Team Ford Racing newsletter that the World Rally Transit has an uprated 2,402cc 16 valve turbo diesel and it creates approx 177bhp.
So it looks like you will need a bigger diesel engine to get that sort of power.

Heya, i am a real diesel fan, but was getting sick of the 1.8 being slow, so i decided to put an escort 1.8 TDI engine in my van, it's fairly easy to do if you have the space and tools, (welder required)
the car is fairly quick and i would be expecting a 0-60 time of about 9 secconds i think ? and i know the top speed is 135 MPH,
I am currently looking into some thing like a t3 but it may not be appropriate as it kicks in at fairly high revs and you wont get much fun with it, so i will probably looking at a t2 from a fiesta wich kicks in at the 1000 rev's range
i am also looking at fitting a larger intercooler at the front of the car rather then being top mounted where there is no ventilation and right above the turbo, also the other problem i am facing is that the diesel fuel pumps arent up to a great deal so there is allot of work required to uprate it.
allot of this may not apply but i am just going on about some stuff you may need to know and what i am looking at doing at least there is some one else out there in the wprld interested

If i see a power graph i will believe it. If it is a "flywheel" figure of 150bhp well that can be debatible as well.

yeah i think it was a flywheel figure.
apparently it reves to 6500:cool:
Im not saying that that it does produce 150Bhp but that is what the owner claims and the mag seems to think its quite possible
But then again what should i care - ive got a petrol turbo
