17's on a fiesta Si

Yes i know they are a lot of faffing about to get on, but i've done all(well nearly all) that bit.

thing is, i've noticed a slight difference in, shall i say, power delivery. it seems to be a lot easier to drive and, faster.
although one thing thats puzzled me, it wont go above 110mph. personally i think it's due to the size of the wheels correcting any innaccuracies in the speedometer, therefore when it was indicating 120-125mph on the 15's it was actually doing nearer 110mph. i know these wheels have made my speedo spot on, went past one of them speed test things and it displayed 40mph when my speedo was saying exactly 40mph, never did that on 15's, was always displaying 36-37
would this be right?

it's so much easier to drive on motorways, just come back from a friends at a leisurely 100mph, and it felt like i was doing 70.
i love my car again!

Sounds cool, But have you been round any corners yet? The handling on 17's is just diabolical.

thanks for the replies
i wouldnt say it is any worse to be honest max, but i cant really give it much at minute, for risk of it catching on the rear arch, which will be sorted tomorrow hopefully. just need to trim a little bit more back on fronts too(if there's any left to trim  ).

If you know a friendly copper, get them to speed check you while you are doing 30 on the speedo or whatever, and see what results you get

to tell the truth the handling isnt the greatest but when uve got a bodykit on i think it looks better when the arches are filled with a bit of rimmage :D

it's lowered 35mm, on what i think are gmax shocks and springs, there are no stickers or marking on them, other than, yellow shocks, red springs.

Mine was lowered 35mm on spax springs with 17s.

Agree it felt better to drive and I found hardly any difference in the speedo. Strange :-?

Rubbed too much, so I changed to 15s.

:)

Only difference I noted to the handling with 17s on was the extra unsprung weight made the car a lot less predictable on uneven surfaces, it felt very "ploddy"

did that have any arch mods brycey?
davezetec, yeah i've noticed that if i'm going down a bad road, ie one fll of repairs etc, then i notice that it seems to get 'stuck' in the patches.
