Alright peeps,

not updated for a few days as had a major set back and some bad news, I knocked up a carbon bonnet for a mate and went to his to trial fit, only to receive a phone call from my workshop landlord, he informs me that his wife has just backed her 70k merc into freddy's rear quarter :-(

We I got straight back to the workshop to find this

Image
Image

to say I was gutted was an understatement, eded up just parking him up and going the pub for 3 days, anyway at least the bonnet was a goodun
Image

Well my plan was to get the shells running gear all done, brakes and engine conversion then do the full respray but im now getting it done the other way around. It will be going for pain in the next week or so, im just waiting on a set of wide arched which I have ordered from m99 which I have been informed are on there way,,,,,I hope

Went on a road trip as well to pick up a new engine

had to get the mrs to drive me in her car as the distance was just too far to use the pickup
Was a nightmare getting it in and out though

Image
Image
Image
Image

Also ordered some bits and bobs from the states, one of which is a vvt delete kit which should also be here in the next week or so. Going to get the engine up on the stand this weekend and see whats what, just got a corsa carbon boot taking up space in the main workshop so once thats done I think a few bottles of stella and a good old engine strip down is in order, well just going to take the head off and inspect/time up.

O and last of all i have sorted some deep dish alloys, not as wide as i hoped, only 7j but they look pretty retro and i have never seen them before.

Will try and get some better pics of the progress as i know no one likes to just read text, thanks for looking.
Kind Regards

Raj

Well not updated for a while, really struggling to source a fiesta front panel at the right price at the mo which is holding up paint, I have also been having a nightmare with the company who supplied the wide arch kit in the form of very poor communication from them. Anyway I have however managed to source a series x kit which im currently moulding, also I have made a start on my inlet system and throttle bodies. Engine is now stripped and ready for being measured, just waiting on a confirmation email from the states on my new high compression pistons and steel rods. Will also begin porting the head this weekend, hopefully the engine should be all back together for the start fof reb ready for the dyno.

Firstly I begain the stripping process

Went to see gary aka crazycage off here to start putting ont the new panels I had, to be honest the car was so low we had to lift the up manually to slide the trolley underneath, the wing came off in my hand.

Image
Image
Image

Had a bit of a kick in the bollox when I unwrapped the replacement front panel I had to only find it was a replacement skin, by this time the car was seriously looking worse for ware, but I just had to botch it back together so I can still drive it, really struggling to find a reasonably priced panel, think im just going to have to payu the £220 for one.
On the plus side some goodies arrived for me
Image

These were advertised as busa pre 2001 ones but when they arrived I later found out they were gsxr1000 ones after measuring the barrells. Bit gutted but they were still a bargain for what I paid.

Started splitting the trottle bodies and prepping whats left of the st170 inlet
Image
Image

now begun assembling what I could
Image
Image

Just got to get the fuel railed drilled and tapped and blank off the old fuel reg as ive ordered an adjustable one with pressure guage to help set the car up when mapping.

The main highlight so far is these arriveing, sooo sooo rare
Image
Image

really chuffed so far as after measuring the bores, crank rods everything is untouched and as it came out of the factory, but not for long, the bore will change from 84mm to 86mm increasing the capacity to 2.1 with a 12 to 1 compression ration. Should hopefully see somewhere in the reagion of the mid 200's bhp wise but to be honest I think the car will do what it will do, as long as its responsive with plenty of torque I will be happy.

Well it makes a change for me to have a few pics instead of boring text, will keep you updated as more progress begins.
Kind Regards

Well only another small update but a bit of a breakthrough for me I think, managed to breake the first qould from the gen ford series x arch. I have to say I was proper crapping myself as I knew how rare these kits are and all I could think about is my mate is gonna kill me if I damage it. It took a while but finally it broke free, its turned out mint and has really captured all the detail from the FORD RS logo. Now I know how the mould should be I can crack on with the other 3 and get the kit back to its owner safe and sound.

got a bit more done tonight, cut the m8 thread to size and also cut some spaces to keep things fixed neatly. Also my new fuel pressure reg turned up which seems a nice bit of kit.

Well its been a while since my last update, my new genuine ford front panel arrived and is hopefully being fitted this weekend
Image

Bought this catch tank for the oil breather system as well, a little bit blingy but for the price I paid I think it is worth the sacrifice
Image

Some end caps to go onto the end of the threadded bar holding the bodies together
Image

As the mk1 strut top mounts on the front are renowned for being crap, I have bought some solid top mounts, shame about the colour but again they look like they are more than up to the job so sod it
Image

I made the first arch and broke it out of the mould the other day, here is a comparison, the white one is the genuine one
Image
Image
Image

the next pics show the inside lip, this is where the arches will fix onto the car, so ALL fixing are hidden and out of site, will also help with fitment as you can use more fixing to help pull the arch to the car, but there is not much need for this as on the trial fit they where the same as the gen ones so im really happy so far.

Thanks for looking
Kind Regards

Nice work mate! How much do you want for the alternator, bolts and wiring? I could do a swap for an as new front mount alternator, bracket, etc which would prob suit your needs better.

What gearbox you using? If you want i can give you the details for converting it to a silvertop sump which suits the ib5/bc gearbox better etc.

Well not really much been going on, spoke to my sprayer at the weekend and the car is now booked in for this Sat, once its dropped off I can start stripping the main stuff to help the sprayer out as he is mad busy.

Ive got so many things to sort out and source, but worried about which pedal box to go for as there are plent on ebay, some chap but look sturdy, yet some expensive which look flimsy????

On another note, met up with Wenny and Ginge yesterday on their way to autosport, they very kondly fetched my new seats for me, here they are, im really pleased with them, only need a good clean and a bit of resto work on the leather and they will look a treat.

Again sorry but nothing much to report on, work has suddenly gone manic so finding time to do anything on freddy is near on immpossible, I have however managed to solve my dash display problems in the form of this:
Image
Just got to work out how to fit it into the mk dash, will probably end up being housed in a recessed carbon panel with maybe a few other instruments included, dont want to clutter it up though tbh.
Anyway back to work

Well a bit of apositive update, been down to the machine shop today and seen the block and crank, all bored and polished up ready for assembly.

Image

But the main update is Mr Crazycage

the little scamp has proper pulled out all the stop and struck a proper deal with me, we had a long chat about the build and other stuff and as it stands my head is now being ported by him, as busy as he is he is making the time out of hours to sort the head which I can only say thank you very much pal. Also the car is being dragged from the painters and dropped off at shay cage residents to have the customs shafts made up and gearbox/engine monts fabricated. I cant thank the lad enough!!!!

Anyway im on with sourcing the bits n bobs for the fueling system now such as lift pump, swirl pot etc, all happy days at the mo.

More updates to come
Kind Regards

Well the car has now been dropped off with mr crazycage, called Stanwho runs STS Recovery (0772950556) to collect the car from the sprayers by my house and deliver it to gary's house. For a very reasonable price indeed he turned up bright and early sat morning a got to work
Image

Then we were off
Image

Once there I found a rather shiny blue orion taking up space which actually belongs to ioriurbo. We wheeled out as it was ready for collection and unloaded freddy onto gary's drive.

Shortly after QplateRST & oriurbo turned up. After a quick chat with ori we decided to do a swop for my old engine for his cozzy pump as I was only going to scrap it, fair play to him he removed it from his car and then set about helping me remove the 1.1 engine from freddy, top fella!!!!

Image
Image
Will the engine and box removed the car is now ready to have the speed gearbox installed together with the custom driveshafts, not too sure if we will get the exaust done but as soon as gary is happy, depending on time, it will be back straight to the body shop and will now be having the engine bay redone.

Again loads of help from som egreat members on here which I cant thank enough :-)

Tucked up all ready for the cage to work his magic
Image

I will try and get some pics of some new goodies I have bought a bit later today, thanks for looking :-)

Well a bit of an update,

dropped the car off at my mates garage for him to start on the bodywork, all I can say is that it hasnt been there a week yet but he has cracked on with loads already, the dent is all but gone, he has found a few other bits on the car though where it has been in the wars so he is sorting them out. Also the engine bay is being treated to a bit of a tidy then that will also be painted. Bodykit should be made in the next 3 weeks ready for fitting, in the meantine the genuine kit will be used to determin which and how much metal is to be removed

He has just finished painting a customers car in the same white I am having so this should give you all an idea of what the final colour will be

Anyway little update, needed to finish the splitter so the body shop can fit the front arches to determine how much of the wing can be cut. Was a very rushed job to do but got it done in 2 days (in your face daveyboy)

Pretty pelase how it has turned out

ive got to really get my arse into gear now as it is basically me thats holding the build up, cylinder should be all ported in the next few weeks so the engine can be assebled at long last.

Im really looking forward to getting the car back and start bolting some fruity bits to it
Kind Regards
