And some stickers too for good measure.
Seriously though I like how this is coming along! The gold paint went a bit funny didn't it!

True to the sticker, fucn love it! These look so good lowered a few inches!

Re: 1986 Capri 2.0 Laser project, body work
yup leafs, the 2.8i had single leafs which are a good upgrade, not to mention gas shocks all round
as i said i got a bit more done tonight
fitted the braided hose
spring off and painted gold, this may change, i wanted them black, but gloss never really works, but im buying gloss black for the mk2s engine block soon regardless
spring will go on once its dry
the lower arm is fubar, bush is abysmal and ive destroyed the boot taking it off so needs replacing, looking to get polybushes instead for the ARB/TCA

not bad for a quick skimming, pretty level and contoured
the shock is refitted with the spring, no compressor needed luckily
being held up now by paint hardner, and new bottom arms with tie rod bushes

That's not done, right ?
No point in being quick, better off taking your time and getting it right. Had numerous "discussions" about hasty work performed at supposedly professional paint shops and long since came to the opinion that, where possible in the future, I'll do the work myself.

Was a straightforward question to be fair, no need to roll your eyes at me How come it's not done by now, not got the patience to get it done in one go ?
You'd be shocked at some of the hateful bodges I've seen by so-called professionals though.

Yeah, except, if I remember right, filler's hygroscopic, which means you'll have to get it warm (bake it) for a while before applying primer and paint
Bodywork's a chore, especially in this weather. Any mechanical work is to be fair - just sucks the heat right out of your body Golf engine was rebuilt this time last year and by god we knew about the cold, had a burner going in the corner of the garage with wood, coal, oil - anything flammable going in it to try keep us warm !

Re: 1986 Capri 2.0 Laser project, Lowered
sound advice guys
the twin 40s will be removed soon in-light for a rebuilt 34/36 carb, should be running at that point and i can get it turned around in the jam packed garage for the n/s to be lowered!

new lower arms on order, should be gettign polybushes for the front end
and if i get my way the carb kit for the 32/36 ( dad is willing to spend over £40 on arms but not a gasket set for £14 that will see it running so might just buy it myself safe the hassle!! )

Re: 1986 Capri 2.0 Laser project, Lowered
some mates popped round earlier, gave me a hand with the cvh, and also had a go at setting the twin 40s up, to a bit of luck, got it running on the Dellorto's and it even idled for a few seconds, these still alot of fine tuning to do, and even the ignition timing needs tweeking, but its getting there

Jon do you know anything about setting up the carbs?
If not mate I suggest you get someone who knows what they're doing to fettle with them because as soon as you start adjusting the screws you are pissing against the wind fella as they become a nightmare and you could spend months until they're right again.

I'm doing the simple job of turning the key, matt was throttling and adjusting the screws, and rich was spraying easystart and holding the chokes

Found an Aston body for your Capri, solves the rust issues, but adds worries all of its own:
