shes baaaaaack!

got her running again today thanks to a mate, a helping hand was needed to reset the ign timing, and to operate the choke, throttle on the Dellortos as well as adjust the dizzy to get it to start!

Video of the Capri running

sorry for the poor quality, i wasnt prepared and its a rubbish sound quality off my phone

the twin 40's sound very nice

needs rejetting now to suit the engine, and a linkage kit! awaiting payday

the beaut is running and driving once more :D

as the funds for the dellorto jets/linkage etc builds ive fitted the single variable venturi carb and manifold from the 1.6 mk1 capri we have, needs some stobe light adjustment to get it spot on but she drives! only in and out the lane to get it up to temp and turn it around to garage it front in first

now i can finish lowering the car (passengers side),fit the n/s 2.8 brake and bleed the lot in, bit more body work to sort and i also need to fit the auto throttle cable into the carb

and we'll give it a bash at an MOT

my plan to get this to Ford Fair is looking ripe more than ever :D

plenty to crack on with tomorrow while the enthusiasm from it driving is there! :P

clean up the rear arch as there is a bubbling of rust, fit the -2" block to the rear, the exhaust is leaking and hanging, needs attention and a new rubber
also need to plumb in the rest of the coolant hoses, and wire in the adjustable fan control unit

Lol tbh i used to be a terror myself for it. Had to do something about it. It's a lot easier now but yes, it cant be good when you have someone else making it messy for you!

Getting there

Image

took the dash apart to do a number of things

first off i had another lower panel with a choke cable fitted, i was going to swap them over, but ours has various things fitted to this panel, eg hazards and alarm indicator lamp
but i noticed the fitted panel had a blanking plug for a choke, i popped it out and fitted the choke, used the standard bulkhead slot, and attached the cable to the carb

while the dash was in pieces, i took the dial panel off, and pulled the cluster forward to access the bulbs.. i fitted white LED 501 bulbs to the 4 dial bulb holders (my last four from when i did the same to the mk2 fez)

the result is a much brighter illumination, the capri is has a notoriously dark dash light at night

while the panel over the cluster was removed, i remembered how plenty of people liek to paint the bazels, red comes to memory

i didnt fancy that though, i went for silver, simple spray can into a cap and cotton bud method

Image

bad photo

Image

pic of them in use

Image

(they are more aqua then blue, led bluey/white mixed with green filters) they are far brighter than before :)

getting close to mot time!
