1987 1.4 Fiesta Ghia - *Mot passed*
1987 1.4 Fiesta Ghia - *Mot passed*
After owning a MK5 Zetec S for the past 6 months I realized they are, in fact, terrible cars. So I went on the look out for a new MK2 and found this Ghia. The only problem was it was 350 miles away. So Friday night me and my Dad drove to Newport stayed the night then headed down to St Austell in Cornwall on Saturday morning and got home around 8:30pm last night. It was totally worth it though, I'm really happy with the car. Just needed a good clean and the idle sorting out which is what I did today. The engine is a 1.4 CVH on a 5 speed box which was nice for the motorway driving on the way home. The 1.4 is surprisingly quick. It has the original radio and speakers inside, as well as dealer sticker on the rear screen and license plate on the back. when I picked it up it had roughly done 14700 miles from new with history to back it up! Plans for it are a 4-2-1 manifold, XR2 exhaust, coilovers and a nice set of wheels.

It was owned by an old women for 20+ years who owned a night club ( no I'm not making this up) who kept the car in a carpeted garage. It was then owned by a couple of middle age guys for a short period. I bought it off one of the middle age guys.

Re: 1987 1.4 Fiesta Ghia
Awesome My Dad has come on many of my crazy car missions with me; it's always worth travelling to get a nice car.
I always found that the Mk4/Mk5 Fiestas had a raft of changes that gave a feeling of 'instant' improvement when you first got out of an older model and sat in them, like firmer seats, sharper brakes etc., but as you spend more time with them you realise that they are pretty much devoid of character and in terms of handling don't actually perform a lot better than the older cars with equivalent spring rates and ARBs. I find them a bit bland and 'wooden' feeling, though the engines and gearboxes are fantastic.
The 1.4 Mk2 were reasonably nippy in their day, though they do like a drop of fuel

What you said about Mk4/5 fiestas pretty much sums up how I started to feel about the MK5. I guess if you started with those then you'll know no different but I started out in MK3s and have only ever owned MK3s and MK2s so I'm used to something with character. Once this fiesta is on coilovers and poly bushed it will handle just the same as my ZS, if not better.

same goes for how i feel towards them, they simply lack the character and feel of a mk3, couple that with the amount of them on the road, and the way certain people mod them id just rather stay clear, the mk3 is a better enthusiasts car to me, compared to a mk4 or mk5
i very much like that jamie, i believe i was watching this on ebay, even used its reg plate to look up the insurance for a mk2, such a peach hope she serves you well
on the other hand i didnt even know you got rid of the gold 1.1, i liked that was very unique
